Wuthering Wavesoffers new players a lot of goodies to start their Gacha journey on the right foot. And while the Astrite, weapon upgrade materials, and Union XP bundles are nice, the real highlights are thetwo free 5-Star charactersand one free 5-Star weapon of the player’s choice.
Players looking to jump intoWuthering Waveswill want to know how to get the weapon as soon as possible and which weapon to choose when the time comes. Here’s the breakdown.
How to Get a 5-Star Weapon in Wuthering Waves
Players canunlock a 5-Star weapon supply chest containing a 5-Star weapon of their choice after reaching Union Level 45 inWuthering Waves. Once you reach Union Level 45, bring up the pause screen and select Events. Here, tab over to the card that says ‘Awakening Journey’ (the one with Yangyang’s picture). On the bottom right, select the arrow next to ‘5-Star Weapon Supply Chest’ (pictured below) to claim the chest containing the 5-Star weapons.
Players can nowopen the chestfrom their Backpack (also accessible from the pause screen). Once opened, the golden chest will reveal a selector for five 5-Star weapons. Choose whichever one you like to claim it.
Which 5-Star Weapon Should You Choose in Wuthering Waves?
Opening the 5-Star Weapon Supply chest will bring up a Weapon selector containing the following weapons:
Sword
Crit. Rate
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When Resonance Skill is released, increases ATK by 6%, stacking up to 2 times. This effect lasts for 10s.
Broadblade
ATK%
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When Resonance Skill is released, increases resonance Liberation DMG by 7%, stacking up to 2 times. This effect lasts for 12s.
Pistol
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When Outro Skill is released, increases the switched-in Resonator’s ATK by 10%, stacking up to 1 time. This effect lasts for 14s.
Gauntlets
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When hitting a target with Resonance Skill, increases Basic Attack DMG bonus by 10%, lasting for 8s.
Rectifier
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When hitting a target with Basic Attacks, increases Basic Attack DMG Bonus by 3.2%, stacking up to 5 times. This effect lasts for 8s and can be triggered 1 time every 0.5s.
The clear winner among the weapons is theEmerald of Genesis, as not only does this weapon scale withCrit. Rate, but sword-wielding DPS characters are a dime a dozen.Rover (male and female), Danjin, and Yangyang, to name a few.
Static Mist is also an excellent option for that reason, but the pistol’s passive effect makes them more suitable for use by a sub-DPS character than a main DPS, making it a lesser choice overall.
The third option is the Lustrous Razor if players are planning onpicking up Jiyan from the limited-time event banner. This is an all-around solid choice for Jiyan, overall better than any of the 4-star options. Still, if you’re planning on also pulling on the weapon banner for Verdant Summit, Jiyan’s signature weapon, there is no reason to get Lustrous Razor.
How to Increase Union Level in Wuthering Waves
The easiest way to increase Union Level is to complete the main quests, do dailies, complete Guidebook milestones, explore the world to open chests, and complete the game’s event-specific objectives.
Having said that, increasing Union Level is a gradual process that cannot be rushed. Union Level EXP gain naturally slows down as players approach level 10, after which players have to spend time grinding it out.Reaching Union Level 45 to unlock the 5-star weapon chest will take time, and there is no way around that.
