Changli, is the latest Fusion Sword character inWuthering Waves, serves both as a main DPS and sub-DPS. Her high damage output and need for extended field time make her a strategic choice for players that enjoy characters that stay on the field longer, since she best benefits from being on-field for her effectiveness, despite having some buffs for team members when off-field through her outro skill as well.
Building an optimal team around Changli is crucial as it is with many other DPS oriented characters. As a character, who can take both a main DPS and sub DPS role, she excels in dealing significant damage and supporting the team - especially in team compositions that can benefit from duo DPS setups. However, it’s worth noting that, she currently lacks perfect synergetic team members, and she might be a more fully fledged solo DPS with the release of future characters. Nevertheless, there are still some characters that show good synergy. This guide will showcasethree different team compositionswithout repeating characters, providing various strategies to maximize Changli’s potential.
Characters like Taoqi and Mortefi can also be effective but are not included in the main recommendations.
Changli + Encore + Verina
When it comes to the most straightforward team composition, Verina and Encore are top choices.Verina is currently the best support character in Wuthering Waves, as she can buff all team members, including both Encore and Changli, while taking minimal field time. This allows Changli to maximize her on-field presence. With the correct rotation, Changli can enhance Encore with the Fusion DMG bonus from her outro skill, even though she cannot use the Resonance Liberation DMG buff. For players who intend to keep Changli on the field for long durations, this setup works well. Encore can be swapped in primarily for her DPS output during her Resonance Liberation state, especially with a high Energy Regen stat, and then swapped out to reduce her field time. It is also possible to use both on the field for relatively equal times if preferred.
This team composition consists entirely of 5-star characters. However, since both Encore and Verina are available from the standard pull, players should have relatively easy access to them.
For players who don’t have an invested Encore or are using Verina in another team composition, such as in Tower of Adversity, Chixia and Baizheoffer a viable F2P alternativealongside Changli. In this setup, Chixia can benefit from Changli’s Fusion DMG buff and Resonance Liberation DMG bonus, which significantly enhance her damage output due to high modifiers and Forte Chains. Although Chixia’s overall damage might be lower than Encore’s, well-timed rotations with Changli’s outro buffs can still yield impressive results. Additionally, as a ranged unit, Chixia offers versatility in various combat scenarios.
For the support role, while Verina is generally superior, Baizhe can serve as a healer. However, her outro buff requires careful management, as it only affects the next character. In this setup, it is most effective to use Baizhe’s outro buff on Changli for a smoother field setup.
Changli + Jinhsi + Yuanwu
Utilizing Changli and Jinhsi in the same team composition offers unique synergy, especially whenleveraging their outro and introskills to their fullest. Changli’s outrobuff enhances Jinhsi’s DPSby boosting her Resonance Liberation and accelerating her Resonance Skill progression. This setup allows Jinhsi to reach her skill’s final stage more quickly. Both characters excel in a quick-swap strategy: Changli can rapidly build Incandescence stacks for Jinhsi due to their different elements, while maxed Incandescence stacks help Changli enter True Sight faster due to Jinhsi’s kit, optimizing their combined rotations.
In this composition, Yuanwu serves as a valuable addition, requiring minimal on-field time. His role is crucial for efficiently building Incandescence stacks with Jinhsi and providing support through shield generation. Although the team lacks a dedicated healer, Yuanwu’s shields and his ability to reduce the enemy’s stun bar help mitigate the risks of not having constant healing while creating openings for maximum DPS. This setup emphasizes careful dodging and timing between quick swaps, but it can be highly effective with proper execution.
