Phase Two forWoW SoDadds a lotmore than just new Runes, zones to explore, and Gnomeregan. It also adds some unique new reusable XP-boosting items, like theCozy Sleeping BagandStudent Fodder. Both of these items can be earned on the same questline, though Student Fodder is arguably the more useful one for reaching max level in SoD.
While the Cozy Sleeping Bag gives a 3% XP boost for 2 hours, it requires sitting still for 3 minutes straight. Student Fodder gives Rested XP, and a lot of it, which can be incredibly useful when grinding out the last few levels. This guide goes over what exactly Student Fodder is, how to use it, and how to get Student Fodder in SoD.

What Is Student Fodder?
Student Fodder Effects & Uses
Student Fodder is anUncommon single-use consumableexclusive to the Season of Discovery and wasadded at the launch of Phase Two. Though it’s essentially an XP-boosting item that makes it easier to level up, it doesn’t do so through a direct XP buff - like the Joyous Journeys buff of WOTLK or the SoD lvl 1-25 buff.Instead, it fills up a portion of your rested XP bars.
Rested XP essentially doubles the amount of XP that players can get from killing mobs out in the world, and doesn’t affect quest turn-in XP or other sources. This can normally be gained by logging out in an inn or a capital city, at a slow rate.

Student Fodderinstantly grants a 20% boost to your Rested XP baron use, equal to four bars of rested XP. As a result, this is not XP that players instantly gain. Just like normal Rested XP, players have to kill mobs to take advantage of the XP boost.
Because it appears that Student Fodder’s Rested XP bonus is percentage-based, it’s best to wait to use Student Fodder until thelatest possible time in leveling. We don’t know whether these items will be usable post-lvl 40 in future phases, so for now, wait to consume Student Fodder until the late level 30s, when the amount of XP to level up begins toincrease drastically from level to level.

How To Get Student Fodder in WoW SoD
As of the release of Phase Two, there is only one known source of Student Fodder in SoD: the Cozy Sleeping Bag quest line. During this multi-part quest line that takes players all across Azeroth, two of the quests reward a combinedeight total Student Fodder.
This makes for about a level and a half’s worth of Rested XP, so wait until around Level 37 or 38 to take a bunch en masse. Student Fodder effects will stack, so it’s OK to consume a few at once. However, Rested XP doesn’t typically carry over between levels under normal circumstances, so watch your bar as it grows with each use. If you’re close to leveling up, it’s best to wait to use Student Fodder until you do level up so its effects don’t go to waste.
