Seeds of Renewal is followingDragonflight’s trend by adding a new event to the game called Azerothian Archives. This event takes place in Traitor’s Rest, the site of some massive dragon skeletons in the Azure Span. By participating in solo and public activities at excavation sites, players can earn new cosmetic items and learn more about the ancient lore of the Dragon Isles. This event will become available whenWorld of Warcraftreleases Patch 10.2.5 on January 16.
Fans will meet Lead Archivist Eadweard Dalyngrigge and his team of charming characters to aid them on their journey. Geo-Archaeologist Roska Rocktooth uses herabilities as a Shaman inWoWto summon elementals that can aid players at the dig site, Techno-Archaeologist Zenata lets them find ancient items and view scenes from the past with Technoscrying, and Codicological Archaeologist Nirobin uses magic, relics, and adorable familiars to find and store information. In addition to the Big Dig group activities, each of these characters has minigames or weekly quests that help fans gather reputation and currency to trade for unique rewards.

Players can exchange Mysterious Relics – the currency for theWorld of Warcraftevent – for mounts like the Clayscale Hornstrider or Explorer’s Stonehide Packbeast, or on two color variants of a transmog set inspired byIndiana Jones. Alternatively, they can pick up cosmetic glasses, backpacks, or a dozen exploring tool-themed weapons that fans ofArchaeology inWorld of Warcraftwould likely find interesting.
Unlike previous events, however, the Azerothian Archives are not tied to player power. All the rewards from this event are purely cosmetic, so there is no rush to grind out gear that will help players defeatthe hardest raids inWorld of Warcraft. Fans can participate in solo or group activities to earn these rewards at their own leisure and can gain progress through a variety of minigames – or even just by fighting enemies. With myriad ways to participate in this new activity, the Azerothian Archives may beDragonflight’s most versatile public event yet.
