Although it has been over six months since Sony released the PS5, the availability of true PS5 games wasn’t that strong at launch, which is to be expected for a newly released console. However, 2021 is already proving to be a great year for those lucky players who were able to snaga PS5 despite stock shortages.
For the past few months, PS5 players saw the release of console exclusive titles such asReturnaland other triple-A third-party games such asOutridersandResident Evil Village. With summer’s lineup including a huge plethora of titles such asRatchet and Clank: Rift ApartandKena: Bridge of Spirits, it’s exciting to see what Sony has in store for the latter part of the year. PS5 Fall 2021 Lineup
As far as games are concerned, PlayStation players should look forward to a jam-packed schedule as the end of 2021 approaches. One of the biggest games anticipated to release sometime this year isHorizon Forbidden West, which is the sequel to the critically acclaimed gameHorizons Zero Dawn. Several weeks ago, Sony dedicated an entire State of Play event to showcase the gameplay ofHorizon Forbidden West. Despite rumors of a possible delay, PlayStation Studios confirmed thatHorizon Forbidden Westis still on track to release later this year.
Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for the nextGod of Wargame. A couple of days ago, Santa Monica Studios announced that the nextGod of War,believed to be calledGod of War Ragnarok,is now delayed from its original release of 2021 to 2022. Despite this, many great games are headed towards Sony’s console, such as Life isStrange: True Colorson September 10, Deathloop on September 14,Ghostwire: Tokyoon October 2021, andBack for Bloodon July 29, 2025. Although these are just some of the big games confirmed to release for the PS5 later this year, players should expect to hear more soon.

What About PS5 Stocks?
It is no secret that the release of the PS5 has been a huge success for Sony. Several months ago, it was reported thatthe PS5 is now the fastest-selling console in US historyand that Sony’s latest has beaten the first six-month sales of its predecessor. The success Sony is enjoying right now can’t be felt among the majority of PlayStation users, given that stocks of the console are still almost non-existent.
Unfortunately, it appears that the stock issue won’t be resolved anytime soon, not even during the upcoming holiday season where console manufacturers expect the biggest sales of the year. In a report by Bloomberg, it’s been revealed thatthe worldwide shortage of the PS5 could continue until 2022. The biggest contributor to the lack of stocks of the PS5 is the global shortage of electronic components leading to Sony reportedly saying that they don’t believe the “demand is calming down this year” even if the company is able to produce more units.

Is Sony Going To Be on E3?
Although many developers have already revealed the release dates of its respective games for Fall 2021, Sony is yet to host an event that will break down everything coming to the PS5 later this year. Although both Microsoft and Nintendo are attending this year’s E3 presentation, once again,Sony will not be present at the event. It is worth remembering that the company started to ditch E3 in 2019, and it is obvious now that the PS5 manufacturer has no intentions to return any time soon.
Given this, Sony is expected to host its own showcase event to give its fanbase an update on what to expect for the latter part of the year. Many theorize that Sony could host a PlayStation Experience event once again. However, this remains unlikely given that the last PSX event was 3 years ago in 2018. Given that there is still a lot more to show for the PS5 outside ofHorizon Forbidden WestandGod of War, it is inevitable that the company will host an online event such asanother State of Play presentation. The only question is when?
