As each new member joins Alain’s quest to reclaim the throne inUnicorn Overlord, all of the relationships between these characters will begin to grow. While all of these characters have the ability to grow friendships, Alain can develop deeper relationships that can lead to romance, and eventually to marriage.
All the characters that decide to fight on Alain’s side have the possibility of increasing this deep connection with him, which can add some interest to the plot of the story. This guide will show you all the options that are available to you and how you can progress your relationship with them, including talking with them andproviding them with gifts.
Updated Jul 23, 2025 by Christina Roffe:In Unicorn Overlord, getting the Ring of the Maiden and completing the Rite of the Covenant is a necessary and important event to fully defeat Zenoira. You’ll need to spend a significant amount of time with your chosen character, building up Rapport and working to complete the required quests to unlock the Rite of the Covenant. We have updated this article to include additional information about all of the available characters you may build a relationship with, and eventually give the Ring of the Maiden to. There are added male and female options to the list based on the characters we have successfully recruited into the Liberation Army.
All Romance Options in Unicorn Overlord
In this section, you’ll find all the possible characters that Alain canromanceand eventuallymarry. He is able to end up with either female or male characters based on your preference. We also have a guide onhow to recruit every character, so you’re able to find who you’re looking for.

At the moment, these are all the available characters in the game that you may recruit to the Liberation Army, and grow a deep bond with. You can build strong relationships with any character that you choose, but keep in mind thatonly onecan receive the Ring of the Maiden from Alain. Once you’ve made your choice of whom to marry, you cannot go back on it. Whichever character you choose to marry will have the same effect as any other character, so the only difference will be your preference. You won’t receive any special rewards for choosing a particular character.
How to Romance in Unicorn Overlord
Before you may even think about marrying a character fromUnicorn Overlord, you’ll first need to build a relationship with them. There are a few different ways you can do this, but overall, you’ll want to start bybuildingRapportwith them. There are a few different methods you can use, including:
If you have a particular character in mind that you’d like to romance, make sure to put them inAlain’s unit formation, so they canfight battles togetherand slowly gain Rapport. Outside of this, you canvisit atavernwithin a city where you’re able to share a meal together. The easiest tavern to find is located within theWalled City of Barbatimo.
You can alsogive a giftto any character you choose. However, you can only provide them with a gift when they arestationed as aguardin any of the liberated towns. If you need to purchase a gift for them, you can find these at a Provisioner found within towns, or the Black Market Dealer.
How to Marry in Unicorn Overlord
To be able to marry a character in the game, you will need to reachmaximum Rapportwith them. you may check this in the Rapport section in the main menu, and if you are at the full three hearts with the character you want to marry, you will have the chance to marry them.
After initiating the final Rapport Conversation between Alain and your chosen character, you’ll want to get your hands on the Ring of the Maiden to marry. To unlock this item, you must complete all the main quests in Elheim, starting with’The Winding Wood'. This quest can be found just south of Bellum Ghoria Hamlet in Cornia, shown in the map image above. To speed up the process of marriage, you’ll want to choose tofocus on Elheim’s quests first over Drakenhold.
The final main quest in Elheim you’ll need to complete is’The Witch’s Word'. There aren’t a lot of main quests you’ll need to complete in Elheim before unlocking this one; it will appear to you soon after you’ve liberated Castle Laurhal. The Witch’s Word can be found in the northernmost region of Elheim, just outside the City of Quantipelt. The enemies here will be Level 23, so make sure to beon the same level.
Soon after you complete this quest, a few cutscenes will occur. In the second cutscene, Rosalinde and Eltolinde tell Alain about the Ring of the Maiden, the item needed to complete the Rite of the Covenant ceremony. They will provide Alain with this item, and immediately after the cutscene, you will unlock theUnicorn and Maiden Main Quest.This will allow you to marry a character of your choosing, and it can be found within the Albion region, specifically outside ofPalevia Town, as shown in the map image.
Once you’ve arrived, head to theAltarat the back of the island. A cutscene will begin with Rosalinde, where she’ll tell you to return with the person you’ve chosen for the rite. You’ll need to have completed three Rapport Conversations with your chosen character, and completelymaxed out the Rapport gauge. Approach the Altar again, and your Rite of Covenant options will appear. Choose who you wish to marry, and the Rite of Covenant will complete the marriage.
