Summary

Coming in hot as many’s favorite Pyro DPS,Genshin Impact’sHu Tao has amazing damage potential. Despite what some believe, she is free-to-play friendly and easy to build. Her charged attack-oriented play style is easy to understand and follow and requires little digging for players to figure out. But, of course, when players first start using her, they may make somecommon mistakes when using Hu Tao.

Another thing that might scare players off of wanting to use Hu Tao is her HP gimmick. She deals more damage when below 50% of her health after unlocking her 4th ascension passive, Sanguine Rouge. But the easiest way around that is to consider who players are using her with.Hu Tao’s team compsare free-to-play friendly as well, making her easy to handle for lower ARGenshin Impactplayers. Staple teams tend to include Xingqiu or Yelan to help with Hu Tao’s ability to Vaporize. However, they aren’t necessary members for every team, just the usual pickings.

Genshin Impact’s Hu Tao’s Kit

As a charged attacker, players might think that it’s her normal attack that should take priority. And though the assumption isn’t wrong,Genshin Impact’sHu Tao’s elemental skilltalent should be leveled up before her normal attack talent. Her elemental skill is what buffs her charged attacks by changing them to Pyro-infused. Using this skill also drains her HP. With that in mind, it is always a good idea to keep a shielder or healer (or someone who can do both) on the team. While her passive of 33% extra Pyro damage while under 50% HP is stellar, it does put Hu Tao in a bad spot without someone to pick her back up.

With her attacks dealing Pyro damage instead of physical, her damage potential increases substantially.Hu Tao’s best-in-slot weapon, Staff of Homa, pushes her potential even further. But not every player can afford a five-star weapon, so even the three-star Black Tassel can be considered. After all, Hu Tao’s damage is increased based on her max HP.

After her elemental skill has been used, her first ascension passive, Flutter By, kicks in. When her skill ends and her Paramita Papilio state is over, all party members (save for Hu Tao) will see a 12% increase in Crit Rate for 8 seconds. This is massive for players who use her alongside another sub DPS who is expected to damage when Hu Tao is not on the field. Characters like Xingqiu, Yelan, or even Zhongli could take good advantage of the Crit boost.

However, being a charged attacker does mean she consumes a lot of stamina. With the right management and team rotations, this might not be a huge concern, but when players are first using her, it’s intimidating.Genshin Impact’sHu Tao constellationsdo propose a solution with her C1, which removes stamina consumption while using her elemental skill. But by no means is this the only solution, as with time and practice, players can get a handle on her kit.

Hu Tao’s burst can heal herself as well as deal a solid amount of AOE Pyro damage. However, what many players may fail to realize, is that her burst does much better when used with her skill still active. Even if players invest a lot intoGenshin Impact’s Hu Tao’s build, they may still find disappointment when not using her burst correctly. An improper burst usage could make or break a Spiral Abyss run, for instance.
