Prophetic visions and dreams are tools for predicting the future and serve as a warning for coming shock events. HBO’sGame of Thronesis guilty of downplaying the seriousness of the Prince that Was Promised from George R. R. Martin’sA Song of Ice and Fire, but the prequel -House of the Dragon, drives the point home. Rhaenyra has loosed her dragons because she believes in Aegon’s dream.
Prophecies and visions raise the stakes with tension building, impacting the characters' decisions. Additionally, visions showcase the internal and external conflicts of key figures like Daenerys Targaryen. Her entrapment inside the House of the Undying and the subsequent tempting (unfulfilled) vision of her husband and son is an excellent example in this direction.

8The Ghost Of High Heart
Speaks About The Red Wedding

She believed that this pale, red-eyed, three-foot-tall friend who accompanied her to the court at King’s Landing upon her marriage to Duncan Targaryen was a Child of the Forest.Jenny died at Summerhall, but this mysterious woman survives the fire and returns to High Heart in the Riverlands.
The Ghost of High Heart prophesied that the Prince That Was Promised would be Aerys and Rhaella Targaryen’s blood. This prompted their father, Jaehaerys, to arrange their marriage. Aerys (later the Mad King) and Rhaella’s daughter, Daenerys, play an important role in the Great War. 7Mirri Maz Duur
Tells Daenerys She Can’t Have Children
The Lhazareen godswife, Mirri Maz Duur, changed the very trajectory of Daenerys' life inGame of Thrones- Season 1. Daenerys first saw her when the Dothraki raided her village, enslaved people, and defiled women. Drogo’s bloodrider, Qotho, called Mirri a witch, but Daenerys employed her knowledge of the Bloodmagic ritual to heal Drogo.
Drogo ended up in a vegetative state and the ritual killed Daenerys' child in her womb. Daenerys asked Maz Duur when her husband would be as he was, and she offered the prophecy:

When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves…
Maz Duur’s words conveyed that Drogo wouldn’t be himself ever again. Later inGame of Thrones- Season 7, Daenerys told Jon Snow that Maz Duur had her believing that she would never give birth to children again.

6The House Of The Undying
Daenerys Experiences Visions
Daenerys went to the House of the Undying to rescue her dragons. She followed their cries and opened the door to the throne room covered in snow falling from its destroyed roof. The Iron Throne was intact and Daenerys walked towards it. This vision came true after Daenerys took the Iron Throne from Cersei. She torched King’s Landing, including most of the Red Keep, with dragon fire. Daenerys became the queen of ashes.
Daenerys in her vision was captivated by the Iron Throne but distracted by the screeches of her dragons. She found herself Beyond the Wall, entering Drogo and baby Rhaego’s tent. Daenerys bravely walked away from the vision and found herself inside the House of the Undying where her dragons were chained to a pedestal. The warlock Pyat Pree appeared and chained her. She broke free by saying, “Dracarys” and her dragons breathed fire after a few tries.

5Maggy The Frog
Maggy Tells Cersei Her Future
A young Cersei and her reluctant friend walk into the hut of a Woods Witch and a fortune-teller named Maggy the Frog. She wants to know her future and Maggy demands a taste of her blood and permits her to ask three questions. Maggy tells Cersei she will never wed the prince (Rhaegar) but the King. Cersei and the King (Robert) will have no children together, but separately 3 and 20.
You’ll be Queen, for a time. Then comes another — younger, more beautiful — to cast you down and take all you hold dear.

Cersei is wedded to King Robert after the rebellion. They do not have any trueborn children, and she bears three for her brother, Jaime. Maggy causes Cersei to become paranoid, and she’s insecure about younger, beautiful women such as Sansa, Margaery, and Daenerys. In the books, Maggy tells Cersei that the Valonqar, which means little brother in High Valyrian, will be the death of her and this explains her hatred for Tyrion.

3Arya And Melisandre
The Priestess Of R’hllor Tells Arya She Will Shut Many Eyes
During her time with the Brotherhood Without Banners in the Riverlands, Arya meetsMelisandre, the priestess of R’hllor. The Red Woman has arrived at the Brotherhood’s hideout for the King’s blood (Robert’s last living son, Gendry) as an offering to the Lord of Light.
Melisandre looks into Arya’s eyes, and sees other brown, blue, and green eyes that the young girl “will shut forever.” “We will meet again,” says the priestess, before walking away with Robert’s illegitimate son, Gendry.

2The Prince That Was Promised
The Prophecy Says The Promised Prince Will Bring The Dawn
The messianic figure in the religion of R’hllor - the Prince That Was Promised, is also referred to by Melisandre as the Warrior of Light inGame of Thrones. They would save the world from the period of darkness known as the Long Night. Melisandre mistook Stannis for the prince, whileHouse of the Dragon’s King Viserys I Targaryen believed it was his eldest daughter, Rhaenyra.
According to the prophecy, this prince or princess (seeing as the High Valyrian noun for “prince” is gender-neutral) will defeat the darkness. They would be “born amidst salt and smoke,” andwield the magical sword Lightbringerto combat the darkness. Melinsandre was wrong about Stannis before but visited Daenerys at Dragonstone to tell her about the prophecy and to ask her to summon Jon Snow. She did not confirm who the prince was but believed Daenerys and Jon had a part to play in the impending Great War.
1The Song Of Ice And Fire
King Viserys Simplifies Aegon’s Dream
Aegon the Conqueror believed the Prince That Was Promised would be born from his blood. He had a prophetic dream about darkness in the North which would end the living world. He believed a Targaryen must be on the throne during this hard time. Aegon called his dream the Song of Ice and Fire, and it propelled him to conquer Westeros.
And just as Daenys foresaw the end of Valyria, Aegon foresaw the end of the world of men. ‘Tis to begin with a terrible winter gusting out from the distant North. Aegon saw absolute darkness riding on those winds. And whatever dwells within will destroy the world of the living. When this Great Winter comes, Rhaenyra, all of Westeros must stand against it. And if the world of men is to survive, a Targaryen must be seated on the Iron Throne.
Aegon had the last of the Valyrian pyromancers hide his song on the Valyrian dagger, and the prophecy was passed on from ruler to ruler. Viserys passed it down to his daughter, Rhaenyra, and she relayed it to her heir, Jacaerys.
House of the Dragonsheds light onthe core prophecy of Martin’sA Song of Ice and Firebut without an adequate explanation of what the Song is. Other than that, Arya Stark was the one who killed the Night King inGame of Thrones, but the two Targaryens - Jon and Daenerys were crucial to galvanizing the living against the dead.
