Deadpoolhas always been a fun character to follow in any media because of how wildly eccentric and purposefully lawless he is written to be as a Marvel character. The comics have surely offered Deadpool an easier outlet to be as preposterously cartoonish as they like, for example, while Ryan Reynolds’ movies have arguably drawn a more emotionally charged portrayal of the character with relatively tame buffoonery accompanying his behavior.Deadpool does not abide by any metaphysical restraints, affording him a lot more creative leisure, and another AAA game where that leash can truly be unwound is incredibly overdue.
Deadpool 3is reportedly ushering the character into the MCU, and it will be interesting to see how that is handled compared to how Sony’s sidelined, standalone villains have been treated. Instead, it seems like this third installment is leveraging a jab at Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine that has persisted since the firstDeadpoolmovie. In doing so, other characters and their actors have been unceremoniously announced, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and it now seems likeDeadpool 3will take jabs at the entire Marvel pantheon before the MCU’s canon.

Deadpool 3 Could Debut a New Game Like Across the Spider-Verse Referenced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
IfDeadpool 3is going to be the latest superhero movie to enter into multiverse shenanigans, this is maybe the only way it could be done with fan service that Deadpool himself can explicitly critique in relation to the countless other multiverse ongoings that have been churned out. Deadpool is already inherently meta and can approach any character or circumstance with a direct bead on what the audience’s gripes or concerns may be with it, too, and that self-awareness will be paramount in makingDeadpool 3stand out if the rumors are true.
It has been a while now sinceHigh Moon Studios and Activision’sDeadpoolgame, but amid all the meta occurrences going on, it would be fantastic if Nolan North’s Deadpool not only got a much-deserved reference but also had an entirely new game announced in this way. This could be done as straightforward advertising with Deadpool announcing the game himself after his character model appears someplace, or it could come up subtly in conversations between characters on-screen.
Nothing is off the table when it comes to Deadpool and access to a potential multiverse of content, and even though the game itself wouldn’t have to feature a multiverse it would be one of the more entertaining ways for fans to find out about it. Likewise, while there is nothing currently suggesting that a new Deadpool game is in development, there is in facta Wolverine game in development at Insomniac Games.
If not Deadpool, then perhapsMarvel’s Wolverinecould have its own Easter egg for fans to discover since Jackman’s depiction of the live-action iteration will play a huge role inDeadpool 3. This would not be completely out of the ordinary even if this was not aDeadpoolmovie, though, becauseMarvel’s Spider-Man 2had its content displayed prominently inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This collaboration was likely for the purposes ofMarvel’s Spider-Manalso being able to include suit skins inspired by the franchise in its games, which would be difficult to promise for fans of a Deadpool game that would still be in early development.
Deadpool 3is still filming, which makes the probability ofa Deadpool game orMarvel’s Wolverinebeing farther along in development—and thus open to sharing a reveal via the movie—a hopeful wish. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that any newDeadpoolgame references are made inDeadpool 3, but it would still make an opportune time for a subtle announcement or reveal that could then be officially corroborated online after the movie is in theaters.
