Nintendo has revealed precious little aboutThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2ever since it was announced for the Switch at E3 2019. Beyond theE3 2019 teaser trailerfor the game, fans know next to nothing about it or what it will entail, which has caused plenty of fake leaks and rumors to hit the internet. The latestZelda: Breath of the Wild 2"leak" claims to reveal the game’s subtitle, and like most of the other leaks, it’s almost certainly fake.
This particular leak stems from a 4chan post, so that should tip people off its legitimacy right away. There have been real Nintendo leaks from 4chan in the past, but the vast majority of the leaks are made up, especially the ones surrounding Nintendo Direct presentations. This latest leak states that Nintendo is going to have a Nintendo Direct on February 3, and thatThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2is going to be one of the featured games.

According to the post,The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’s subtitle is going to beShadows of the Lostand it will be aiming for an July 14, 2025 release date. The leaker says that “little gameplay” will be shown of the game during theNintendo Direct, but fans can expect more information in June. The leaker included an image that is supposedly a still from the Nintendo Direct presentation showing the newZelda: Shadows of the Lostlogo, but it too is almost certainly fake.
Nintendo has not made any announcements about a Nintendo Direct presentation in February, and even if it does have one, that doesn’t mean it will be showing the newZelda. That being said, fans should be able to expectsomeZelda news this year. After all,2021 marksThe Legend of Zeldafranchise’s 35th anniversary, and if Nintendo’s celebration ofSuper Mario’s anniversary is any indication, there should be plenty for fans to look forward to.
So while this particular leak is likely fake, fans may very well get to playThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2this year, or at the very least, learn more about it. And maybe if they’re lucky, fans will also get their hands on aZeldacollection equivalent toSuper Mario 3D All-Stars, but again, Nintendo has so far kept its plans forZelda’s 35th anniversary secret.
For now,Zeldafans should keep an eye out for official information onThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2from Nintendo and treat any “leaks” like this with a great deal of skepticism.
