All set to premiere on March 19,The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill highlight the journey of the titular main characters following the events ofAvengers: Endgameand will work as adirect sequel to 2016’sCaptain America: Civil War. The duo’s abilities and patience will be put to the test after Captain America/Steve Rogers hung his costume and handed over his iconic shield to the Falcon. Fans will get to see whether Falcon is able to take up and honor the responsibility bestowed upon him by his predecessor.

The Falcon first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, fighting along with Captain America and Black Widow to uncover a conspiracy within S.H.I.E.L.D. after the organization is infiltrated by HYDRA. Following the events of the film, Falcon agrees to helptrack down the Winter Soldierand is even invited to become a member of the Avengers.

This is when the Falcon firstcrosses paths with Zemo, the Sokovian soldier who loses his family during the battle between the Avengers and Ultron. InCaptain America: Civil War, Zemo is on a mission to disband the Avengers and reveals to Iron Man/Tony Stark who is responsible for his parents’ death - Bucky Barnes. This revelation leads to a civil war breaking out among the members of the Avengers. Though he skipped his masked look in the movie, it seems like Brühl will be seen wearing the traditional costume from the comics in his reprisal of the character in the upcomingThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In the comics, his mask gives him the ability to resist psychic attacks.

Sharon Carter, who has also appeared in theCaptain Americafilms, will also be making a return. The great-niece of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s founder,Director Peggy Carter, VanCamp’s character has previously helped the main characters of the series. It was revealed that she was one of the characters lost during The Blip, only to be brought back five years later.Fans who may have forgotten these characters’ backstories can revisit their journeys in Marvel Studio’sLegendsseries on Disney Plus. The episode featuring the Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuted on March 5, whereas Carter and Zemo’s background will be covered in the episode airing on March 12.
