WhileSuper Smash Bros. Brawlisn’t considered the greatest game in the series by the competitive fighting game community, the game still has an active modding community even nearly 15 years after its original release. This is evident withBrawl’s hacking scene adding a variety of content to the game, whether it be new costumes, stages, characters, music, or even overhauling the game’s mechanics to be more competitive. Nothing exemplifies the community’s efforts more than the overhaul mod known asProject M.
Project M started back in 2009 as aSuper Smash Bros. Brawlmod that would bring the game up to a competitive environment in the same vein asSuper Smash Bros. Melee. Development onProject M sadly had to be stoppeddue to a variety of reasons, but Project M lives on through other modders. More specifically, Project+ is a community driven patch that aims to continue off where the legacy version did, adding in a bunch of new characters and fixing issues that were left to the wayside.
