Summary

Completionists andXboxachievement hunters will be sad to learn that the Day One achievement is basically impossible to unlock for them now.Xboxgamers have been hunting down rare achievements since the 360 days. Not all achievements are created equal, with some rare achievements proving especially elusive for achievement hunters.

One of the rarest Xbox achievements is the Day One achievement that players could earn by inputting a code that came with their launch day Xbox One consoles. Players had the option to scan the code using theirKinect cameraor type it in the old-fashioned way, but regardless, it netted them a special Day One achievement that has only been unlocked by 0.66% of Xbox gamers. This makes it one of the rarest achievements in Xbox history, and unfortunately, it’s basically impossible to get nowadays.

According to user comments on TrueAchievements, Day One codes can still be redeemed, but there’s an issue. The achievement isn’t even visible anymore, as Microsoft hid it from view for unknown reasons. The only way to see the achievement now is if one had pinned it to their Xbox profile prior to Microsoft hiding it. A workaround pointed out by Reddit user DrDannny, who brought this extremely rare Xbox achievement back into the spotlight with a recent post, claims that players can see their version of the achievement if they find someone who has it pinned and then click it. At that point,Xbox playerswill have the option to pin the Day One achievement to their own profile if they’d like, assuming they have it unlocked.

So while players can technically still redeem the Day One code in 2023, the achievement won’t actually pop, and it’s unclear if it will even appear on their profile if they go through the steps outlined by DrDannny. It’s possible that workaround only applies to those who already redeemed the code a decade ago. Anyone that wants to risk it can buy aDay One Xbox Onecode from eBay and give it a shot, assuming they can find someone with the Day One achievement pinned, but there’s no guarantee it will work.

Even if it does work, it’s unlikely many people will bother going through the hassle of unlocking it, and so the Day One achievement will remain one of therarest Xbox achievementsof all time. Knowing this, some Xbox gamers that bought the Xbox One on launch and redeemed the code may want to get it pinned on their profile, but they will have to find someone else with it pinned first.
