So was the case atWWE’s SummerSlam 2022 event, which saw a number of signs in the audience making various claims about video games and pop culture in general.
One of the most prominent signs throughout the night was one that insulted fans of thegacha gameGenshin Impact, asking them to “please touch grass.” This sign was visible throughout most of the night at SummerSlam, from the first match between Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch all the way to the main event with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. However, it was far from the only video game signs spotted at SummerSlam.

Another sign thatWWEfans could spot watching SummerSlam claimed thatFinal Fantasy 7is the best game in the series. This is hardly a controversial opinion, as many fans agree thatFinal Fantasy 7is the best game in the series. However, there are those who disagree, withFinal Fantasy 6,9, and10often brought up as potentially the best games in theFinal Fantasyseries instead ofFF7.
Video game YouTuber Dunkey was also referenced at SummerSlam with a sign that said “Knack is back baybee,” a reference to a running gag from Dunkey’s videos. For those who may not be familiar with the YouTuber, Dunkey has sarcastically held upPlayStation action-platformerKnackas the pinnacle of gaming. This joke has been going on for years, and now it’s been immortalized in sign form at SummerSlam.
Besides video games, the signs at WWE’s SummerSlam 2022 event made other pop culture references. One can be spotted not far from theGenshin Impacttouch grass sign claiming thatTobey Maguire is the best Spider-Man.
It seems signs like this trend will be commonplace at WWE events and other wrestling shows moving forward. The wrestling signs arguing about JRPGs have been popping up for quite a while now, and they are showing no signs of disappearing anytime soon.
