During those moments of calm, memories of other recent points in the ever-growing franchise can come flooding back like a fever dream. For instance, there are probably at least a few people who had nearly forgotten about Disney Plus seriesThe Bad Batchuntil this very moment.
There’s nothing wrong with that, of course.Star Warsalways has something new on the way, after all. It would be unfair to expect anyone’s brain to just casually keep track of it all. But now is definitely a good time to get those dusty corners of the mind focused onThe Bad Batchspinning up again. It turns out a popular theory aboutThe Bad Batchseason 2has just been confirmed, and it could have some interesting implications going forward.

In a recent charity stream edition of YouTube podcastThe Convor Call, the composers behindThe Bad Batch(as well asThe Clone WarsandStar Wars Rebels) made an appearance to speak briefly about what to expect from the series going forward. While they made a conscious effort to hold back as much as possible, they were able to offer the smallest tidbit regarding new fan-favorite character Omega. It turns out that, the next time audiences see her, she’ll be “a little bit older,” according to composers Sean and Dean Kiner. However, they made sure to specify that her age jump will be “not a lot.”
This basically confirms the widely-held speculation that season 2 would begin with a time skip after the events ofthe suspensefulBad Batchseason 1 finale. Omega, the only female clone of Jango Fett, was barely a preteen in the first season, so even the smallest time jump would give her the opportunity for some significant growth, particularly given how eager she is to learn. That’s not to mention the rather turbulent nature of the titular Bad Batch themselves, whose penchant for danger would easily work as a crash course in survival for anyone in their company.
The Bad Batchsaw a small group of “defective” clone troopers banding together as their own unit, turning their respective individual traits that stray from the intended template into advantages that allow them to work as a special ops team. In the time afterEmperor Palpatine executed Order 66, The Bad Batch realized their defects allowed them to break free from the genetic programming that forced the other clones to attack and wipe out the Jedi Order. As they escaped from their lives as Imperial soldiers with this knowledge, they also brought Omega with them, who was seen as a defect herself for being a female clone.
The time jump between seasons 1 and 2 will likely offer an opportunity for the whole squad to grow as a unit. They’d certainly have to now that they’ve made a clean break from the Empire, and with the knowledge that their old comrade Crosshair is still on their tail, it basically requires them to think up new tactics to stay one step ahead. Omega proved throughout the first season that she’s become a capable member of the team. So with even a year or so of experience under her belt, as well as the rumors thatOmega might make the jump to live action soon, season 2 could present viewers with a real evolution for her.
