A fan posted a rather interestingStar Warsimage online from a local establishment that pays tribute to Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Star Warsis easily one of the most widely recognized franchises in the world. The original trilogy became a massive hit, and a prequel trilogy was eventually released in 1999. Though not as warmly received at first, the prequels have become well-loved over time, in no small part due to McGregor’s portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a wise and charismatic Jedi Master with such a large fanbase that he recently got his own show, withtheObi-Wan Kenobipremiere setting a new Disney Plusrecord for an original series.

This fan love has manifested itself in yet another way, as aReddituser by the name of Zeaus03 took to the StarWars subreddit to post an image taken at his local Taco shop featuring a quaint shrine with several humorous images featuring Danny Trejo, Charles Darwin, and Anthony Bourdain on candles. The centerpiece of the entire ensemble is a large framed portrait of McGregor’s Obi-Wan with one of the more recognizable of his ever-evolving hairstyles, stylized as a religious image might be. The caption attached to the image reads, “A shrine at my local Taco shop dedicated to our lord and savior Kenobi.”
This isn’t the first time that McGregor, who recently reprised hisObi-Wan Kenobi role in an unexpected cameo, has been mistaken for a religious symbol. The star does resemble common depictions of Jesus Christ, complete with a similar robe. This has been the subject of several jokes within the fandom and pranks on older Catholics and more, with some referring to Kenobi as Space Jesus in part due to the resemblance, his role and sacrifice in the films, and a supposed Christian undertone to the franchise.
The altar is a unique and effective draw to get people into the store for a serving of Tacos and a few jokes, as Redditors took to the comment section to express. The love for Kenobi and McGregor will likely never fade, so, fortunately, the well-loved star might be back sooner than some thought. With theStar Warsfranchise still churning out new content for streaming and several established projects winding down,McGregor is confident thatObi-Wan Kenobiwill get a second season.
TheStar Warssaga is available on Disney Plus.
