Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Console Port is Being Invaded by PC Players

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academywas originally released in 2003 to the delight of players who wanted to use a lightsaber with a custom character. A fair amount of time has passed since the release of the game, but whenrumors circulated aboutStar Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academycoming to the Switchexcitement from Star Wars fans began to peak. The game has now been released on the PlayStation 4 and Switch, but the players who have been consistently playing for 17 years are making it tough for newcomers.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academyutilizes third and first-person gameplay and on top of a campaign also has online matchmaking. WhileotherStar Warsgames are coming to the Switch, many will hope that older players bypassing the matchmaking protocol so that it pits vastly more experienced players against newcomers are contained to this title. There have already been several calls for the developer, Aspyr Media, to fix the issue.

The newcomers to the title are encountering matches with PC veterans and this is making the experience less enjoyable for players who are still learning the mechanics in the game. Aspyr Media has yet to outline a plan to fix the problem, but it seems that it needs to sort the server issues that more experienced PC players are taking advantage of. TheStar Warsfranchise is huge and many players will want to play as many titles as possible, but if they encounter a steep learning curve they may be put off the experience. Witha number of abandonedStar Warsprojects, fans will hope that this title can update its matchmaking and continue to be an exciting game.

Currently, all PC players have to do to access the games of newcomers is copy their IP address, as it is on screen, and input it into their settings. It seems to be too easy for players to get around matchmaking protocol and wreak havoc. Whilemany players are enjoying using a lightsaber again, there will be calls for this issue to be fixed so the game has more balanced online gameplay.

It will be interesting to see how Aspyr Media deal with this issue, but it will most likely be by hiding IP addresses or changing the setting screen of the game. Whilethere are plenty of rumoredStar Warsgamescoming in the future, many will hope that this port of a classic has it’s matchmaking issues fixed quickly.
