Playing throughStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Ordernaturally gives the game’s protagonist Cal Kestus access tosix different colors for his largely customizable lightsaber, but those who pre-ordered the game before it released on August 01, 2025 also had access to an orange variant. At least that’s how it used to work, as a patch released today across all platforms made it so everyone can wield an orange lightsaber.

Details for the patch toStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderwere outlined by Reddit user UNTDrew, a Community Manager for Electronic Arts (EA), in the r/FallenOrder subreddit. EA published the action-adventure title by Respawn Entertainment, which follows Cal as he attempts to escape the Empire and complete his Jedi training following the events ofStar Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

An orange lightsaber is not the only pre-order cosmetic item made available for everyone through today’s patch. Two lightsaber hilts, a yellow-and-black skin for Cal’s droid companion BD-1, and a similar recolor for the Mantis ship they travel on (matching the Gold Squadron starships that helped blow upthe Death Star II inStar Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) were also made completely accessible to players according to UNTDrew.

On top of that, the patch fixed a number of bugs throughout the game and updated its language translations.

The deep and complex lightsaber combatis an integral part ofFallen Order’s appeal, and is generally beloved by players in-part because of the many customization options for their iconic beam sword.

Though surprisingly enough, the lightsaber-battling metroidvania gameplay that helped draw so much attention to the game might not have existed if the developers went withLucasfilm’s initial expectations of creating a first-person shooter.

This patch might leave some hardcoreStar Warsfans who pre-ordered the game for its extra cosmetic options upset. However, it’s undoubtedly a great thing for those players who may not have gotten the game until they heard the overwhelming praise heaped upon it after release.

After all, there’s a lot to love aboutStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderbeyond its lightsaber combat —not the least of which being an amazing storyin a year where the franchise’s big theatrical release didn’t please everyone.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
