A French interview with Christophe Gans shows the director opening up about not just one, but multipleSilent Hillprojects in development. The director has previously teased anotherSilent Hillmovie that he is working on, and through this, he is said to be collaborating with theSIlent Hillteam. This is certainly a heavy tank of fuel to the fire that is the ongoingSilent HIllrumor mill, consisting of multipleSilent Hillprojects in development, including not only the recently rated game but also classicSilent Hillgames returning to Steam.
“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise. I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games.”
One of the other rumors that have circulated is aremake ofSilent Hill 2allegedly by Bloober Team, whose images of what appeared to be a concept build had leaked online.Silent Hillfans should take some of these rumors with a grain of salt, although it is likely that at least oneSilent Hillproject is on the way. The Game Awards may be an area of interest, as that would be the likely place if it is to show up in some capacity before the end of 2022.
There arereasons for and against aSIlent Hillresurgence, especially given Konami’s previous track record. However, due to the recent critical and financial success of theResident Evilremakes by Capcom, it is understandable why Konami would want to dip its toes back into video games, and under a talented team of developers that understand and respect the franchise, it might not be such a bad idea.
