The release ofResident Evil Villageis just a few days away, and the demo for the game has given fans a lot to consider. With a high level of graphical polish, nightmarish enemies, and atmosphere, and gameplay mechanics as refined as its predecessor,Resident Evil 7,Resident Evil Villageaims to be one of the best survival horror games ever created. Although, despite the game’s release date quickly approaching, modders have already begun to flex their abilities with the demo.

Video game mods have served as a prominent fixture within the gaming community for the last several years. Whilecheat codesgradually went out of style, players began to develop inventive ways to mess with any given game, via their own technological resources. The results have been impressive and humorous across the board andResident Evil Villageis no exception to this.

A Twitter user by the name Marcos RC found a way to put Barney the Dinosaur into theResident Evil Villagedemoand fans can’t tell whether it’s terrifying or hilarious. Every one of the enemy NPCs found in the castle demo has been transformed into Barney the Dinosaur. Hopefully, a full mod will be available for players to use once the game officially launches.

Ever sinceResident Evilentered its renaissance period with the release ofResident Evil 7,mods have become a commonality within the series. When the remake ofResident Evil 2came out, it was quickly followed by a large amount of Mr. X mods and the exact same thing happened following the release ofResident Evil 3’sremake, only the mods were made for Nemesis.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the modding community gets up to in terms ofResident Evil Village. From the looks of things, it seems likeVillagewill have a lot more NPCs to work with as opposed toResident Evil 7, which largely focused on the Baker family, in addition to Ethan, Mia, and Eveline. Then again,Village’srelation toResident Evil 7and the overallResident Eviltimeline is still up for debate until the game releases.

Obviously, players can expect to see the return of Ethan Winters, the protagonist ofResident Evil 7,as well asChris Redfield, but the finer details ofResident Evil Village’sstory still have yet to be explained. Then again, that’s what the game will ultimately accomplish once it’s publicly released to the gaming masses.

Resident Evil Villagewill be available May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
