Viewers with a keen eye may recognize Trent. Although it isn’t explicitly stated, it is likely that this Trent is the same character from the novels by S.D. Perry. In them, Trent is a high-level employeein the Umbrella organizationkeen on taking it down. Over the course of the novels based on the games, and the novels with original stories, Trent will often reach out to the protagonist and provide them with valuable information to aid them on their upcoming journey. It is unlikely that the developers ofResident Evil Revisitedchose this name without knowing the larger implications of it.

In the trailer, Trent is shown driving through the forest of the Arklay Mountains before crashing his car in order to avoid hitting a zombie shambling across the road. Trent then views a document saying “-If the site is contaminated, retrieve any assests that are not compromised or infected. Good luck with your mission. [sic]” The remainder of the trailer shows many quick cuts with shots of the additional areas added in theResident Evil Remakein addition to new areas like a motel. In a funnod toFinal Fantasy 8, Trent finds an issue of Timber Maniacs while exploring.

For a fan project,Resident EvilRevisitedlooks extremely impressive. It captures the spirit of the PlayStation era of games while feeling like something new. The voice acting is a little rough but is perfectly in line with the original trilogy, thus making it more accurate than if it were done to today’s standards. The graphics, movement, and inventory management all hearken back to an era many would have thought lost but is returning thanks to projects like this andtheBloodbornePlayStation demake. For fans of classicResident Evil, this original title is certainly one to keep an eye on.
