With news of a newState of Playrecently announced, fans have become curious about whatPlayStationmight be planning to reveal, from a PS5 release date to the launch price. However, a leaker may have laid out what Sony has planned for the reveal event, including news about how the online connections with the PSN might be changing for the upcoming Next-Gen console.

The leaks come from an anonymous poster on 4chan, who previously correctly leaked theSpider-Man exclusivity inMarvel’s Avengerson PS4, and the timing of the upcoming State of Play. While these leaks should still be taken with a grain of salt, this leaker seems to have at least some inside information fromSonyto fall back on, lending credence to some of these new rumors.

One of the more prominent leaks involves what Sony seemingly has planned for the game streaming service PlayStation Now and the premium online service that gives access to multiplayer gameplay andfree monthly games, PS Plus. From what the leak states, there will be heavy enough revisions to justify dedicating an entire segment to the State of Play for how the company intends to overhaul both of these systems. While some fans are excited to see if this means that players will be getting more free games each month, or possibly that the prices for these services may be dropping, the reality is likely moving in a different direction than most would expect.

With this following a recent rumor thatXbox Live Gold may become freesoon, some fans have already begun to assume that the same might be true for PlayStation and PS Plus. What this means for the free monthly games for either system remains up in the air then, as these were one of the primary incentives to bring people to the premium subscription services in the first place. That being said, neither Sony nor Microsoft has spoken on the future of either of their services, waiting until their scheduled reveals to elaborate further on what online interactions will be like on Next-Gen consoles.

One possible different direction that PS Now and PS Plus could be taking, considering that they are both being lumped into the same conversation, is that they may be combining. This would go in line with Sony’s plannedmonthly new indie title on PS Now, adding games to the streaming service directly, instead of having two separate services for accessing online content. Additionally, PS Now might have a better draw on PS5 with faster load times and improved backward compatibility.
