One of the strongest fire types in the history of the Pokemon universe, Chimchar, along with its evolutions, has made its way intoPokemon Scarlet & Violet, and fans are eagerly looking for its location in the game.
While Charizard has a cult in the Pokemon community, Infernape is not far behind, so the starter’s introduction inPokemon Scarlet & Violethas been widely acclaimed by many. While players had the option to get it viaJacq in theTeal Mask DLC, that is totally random and could end up as any of the three starters. Thankfully, there is a guaranteed way of getting Chimchar and its evolutions in the game now.
How To Unlock Chimchar
Chimchar is unlocked byboosting the diversity of the Polar Biomein the Terrarium of theIndigo Disk DLC. This can be done by simply heading to the League Club Room and then using the PC to open the support board. Players will find the request to donate3,000 BP right there, and that should help them unlock Chimchar in the wild. For those who are struggling with collecting BP, they should try to complete smaller quests faster to unlock the stronger red quests, or simply join a union circle to take part in the gold quests.
Chimchar Location In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Quite contrary to its type, Chimchar is found in thePolar BiomeofPokemon Scarlet & Violet. It is mostly found on the southern end of the map, although it is not as common as some of the other starters in the game. Players can head to the Polar Plaza and look for Chimchar in the cliffs right adjacent to it since it spawns quite frequently in this area.
Chimchar is around level 60 in this area, so players with a high-level team should be careful to not quickly knock it out. Thankfully, even if players do end up knocking it out, they can find another one nearby, unlike the legendaries which are one-off encounters. Players can tryusing a Quick Ball directly, and if that doesn’t work, then using attacks like False Swipe or simply whittling down its HP along with status-inflicting attacks is the best bet.
How To Evolve Chimchar To Monferno & InfernapeChimchar evolves into Monferno at level 14, and Monferno evolves into Infernape at level 36. Just like the other starter evolutions Monferno and Infernape are not available in the wild, and can only be obtained by evolving Chimchar.
Chimchar is quite effective in a variety of natures, such as Adamant, Modest, Brave, and Quiet. Depending on what your strategy and moveset are, any of these can be a good option.Fire happens to be the best tera typefor Chimchar, further enhancing its base Fire-type attacks to a significant extent.
