AlthoughPokemon GOoffers plenty of activities to keep its fan base busy from daily tasks to PvP battles to collecting shiny Pokemon, Battle Raids are consistently one of the most popular ways to spend time in the mobile AR experience. The cooperative PvE battles take skill and practice to master, butoffer exciting XP, item, and encounter rewardsfor trainers who manage to pull in a lot of victories.
Taking down powerful battle raid bosses inPokemon GOrequires careful planning, especially when it comes to some of the most powerful Pokemon in the game. The Ultra Beastscertainly fit into that category and players who want todefeat a Battle Raid boss like Kartanashould take some time ahead of the fight to study up on the boss' weaknesses and the best counters available for the fight.

Kartana battle raids can be a real challenge for trainers who don’t take the time to build a roster full of powerful Fighting and Fire-type counters. Trainers should make an effort to review their best possible counter options and consider spending someprecious resources like Stardust, Candy, and Elite TMsto optimize their roster before heading into the big battle. Like with any Battle Raid, it’s best to prepare ahead of time, so no Raid Passes are wasted by failed efforts.
Updated on April 5 by Md Armughanuddin:The article has been updated to provide users with some more context on the weaknesses and resistances of Kartana so that they are able to strategize the perfect team for taking down the Ultra Beast. Additionally, its counters have been adjusted to reflect the ones that are more effective as per the current meta.

Kartana Weaknesses & Resistances
This Ultra Beast is a Grass-/Steel-dual type which gives it an interesting pair of weaknesses.Kartana is weak to Fighting-type moves and 2x weak to Fire-type moves. Additionally, it is quite crucial that players are aware of its resistance too, as they should ideally avoid moves to which it is resistant. In fact, this is what makes the battle extremely tricky, as Kartana is resistant to a staggering ten types. These resistances include Grass, Dragon, Electric, Fairy, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Steel and Water-type moves. That’s almost half the total number of types that actually exist out there, which is quite massive, to say the least.
Best Kartana Counters
Thankfully, players have a variety of options to take down the powerful Ultra Beast. Considering how difficult the battle can get, it is recommended touse Shadow/Mega Pokemonfor the raid. Here are the best counters for Kartana.
Fire Spin
Blast Burn
If players want to use regular Pokemon instead, there are a plethora of options, but it will make the battle considerably more difficult, since these Pokemon pale in their offensive stats as compared to Shadow/Mega variants.
Trainers don’t need to field the exact roster of ultimate counters listed here, but they will want to bring thebest Fire-type movesthey have available to the match. Players who manage to stick to that strategy and enter the fight with a handful of allies (ideally a group of at least five), should be able to successfully take down this boss and earn an encounter reward and some exciting XP and items.
