Pokemon that have gone extinct but can be revived through the power of science are known as Fossil Pokemon. InPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl, trainers can dig up fossils in the Grand Underground. While the Skull and Armor Fossils are version-exclusives, fossils of Pokemon from generations 1-3 can be obtained in bothBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl. One fossil to be on the lookout for is Old Amber.
Aerodactyl was one of the first Fossil Pokemon to appear in thePokemonworld. It is a Rock/Flying-type that is capable of Mega Evolving in generations 6-7. As a Fossil Pokemon, Aerodactyl can’t be found in the Wild. Instead, trainers will need to take the Old Amber to the Oreburgh City Museum in order to revive Aerodactyl.

Where to Get Old Amber
Old Amber can be found in the Grand Undergroundalong with other Pokemon fossils. If playingBrilliant Diamond, players can get the Skull Fossil, but not the Armor Fossil. Likewise,Shining Pearlplayers will experience the opposite.
Despite Aerodactyl being a part of the National Dex, Old Amber can be minedbefore players become Pokemon Champions. However, Old Amber is exceedingly rare and it’ll come down to luck whether players dig one up or not.

When mining, use the pickaxe to clear away tilesaround the Old Amber instead of using the hammer, since the hammer breaks the wall a lot quicker.
Once trainers have the Old Amber, bring it tothe Oreburgh Museum in Oreburgh City. Use Fly to get to Oreburgh, then go in the direction of Route 207. To the right is a giant building. Go inside and speak to the man in the lab coat and glasses.Give him the Old Amber and he’ll revive Aerodactyl. While he says he needs to concentrate, all players need to do isleave the building, go back in, then speak to him once moreto get their newly-reborn Aerodactyl. Fossil Pokemon will always have randomized gender, Nature, and be at level 20.
More Information About Aerodactyl
Being a Rock/Flying-type means Aerodactyl shares a few of the same weaknesses as Rock and Flying-type Pokemon. Aerodactyl has a base stat total of 515, which goes up to 615 when it is Mega Evolved. However, Mega Evolution doesn’t exist inBrilliant Diamond&Shining Pearl, leaving Aerodactyl unable to Mega Evolve.
Its base stat spread and type effectiveness are the following:

Aerodactyl is a speedy Pokemon with a strong Attack. Most of its movepool consists of Physical moves such as Stone Edge and Wing Attack. In addition, Aerodactyl can learn the Ground-type move Earthquake via TM, whichgives it coverage against Electric-type Pokemon.
The best Nature for Aerodactyl isJolly (+Spd, -Sp.Attk). This Nature sacrifices its Special Attack growth while increasing base Speed growth. Since Aerodactyl’s best Special move is the Normal-type Hyper Beam, which is a move that requires recharging,Special Attack for Aerodactyl isn’t as usefulas its Attack stat.
