Released at the end of last month, PlayStation VR2 has had a bit of a mixed reception so far. On one hand, PlayStation VR2 is a big improvement over its predecessor, and the tech inside the headset does justify the hefty price tag, but on the other, PSVR2 is seriously lacking its own range of exclusives right now, with really just one big title trying to convince fans to drop the cash.PSVR2 desperately needs more AAA games, and its safest bet is the upcomingTheWalking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2.

Announced back in June 2022,The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2is the highly-anticipated follow-up to the phenomenal 2020 original, which is still widely considered to be one of the best VR games around right now.Saints and Sinners Chapter 2looks like it’s improving upon its predecessor in some pretty sizable ways, and with the pedigree of the first game already behind it, it’s sure to be a hit. And that’s exactlywhat PlayStation VR2 needs right now.

Before PlayStation VR2’s release, there was a lot of speculation surrounding its launch-day line-up. Despite having over 40 games on its release window calendar, PSVR2 is still missing that one killer app that’ll turn heads, and finally make fans take the plunge into VR, a rather expensive spin-off hobby. For a while, fans thought thatHorizon Call of the Mountainwould be PSVR2’s killer app, and it seems like Sony did as well, even creating a specific headset bundle for it. But whileHorizon Call of the Mountainis a fun adventure into that world, it doesn’t quite live up to expectations, featuring a disappointing on-rails combat system, some clunky controls, and way too much climbing.

Thankfully, PlayStation VR2 still has plenty of games confirmed to be heading its way over the next few months, fromclassic hits likeBeat Saber, to new and exciting titles likeSynapse. But by far one of the most anticipated games on the list isThe Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2. The firstSaints and Sinnerswas a fairly groundbreaking VR title, essentially taking the impressive physics system ofBoneworks, and applying it to a fully-fledged survival horror game, complete with crafting, a slew of different melee and ranged weapons, and a handful of RPG elements thrown in for good measure.

WhileSaints and Sinners Chapter 2won’t release for another few weeks on PSVR2, it already came out on PC. For the most part, the sequel does improve upon its predecessor in some pretty big ways, including a more diverse set of weaponry, more varied environments, and a slightly better physics system. However, the game didn’t run all that well, especially on moreunderpowered headsets like the Meta Quest.

Now,Saints and Sinners Chapter 2isn’t exclusive to PSVR2, but it could give the headset its opportunity to shine. PSVR2, in the grand scheme of things, is a fairly cheap headset, only being beaten out by the Meta Quest. IfWalking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2runs better on PSVR2 than it does on other headsets, then that could be the push it needs to stand out from the Quest’s shadow and convince fans that it’s offering the better VR experience for just a little bit more money.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2is available now on PC VR, and will be released July 24, 2025 for PSVR2.
