Fans of the indie sensationPhasmophobiaare preparing for a significant update coming soon, and a recent post from Kinetic Games gives details on what players can expect. With its immersive and terrifying atmosphere, combined with team-based ghost hunting mechanics, thePhasmophobiarelease made quite the splash on the horror scene, scaring the living daylights out of players and entertaining many who delighted in turning to into their favorite YouTubers and Twitch streamers who were playing the game.

Within a short span of time,Phasmophobiamade a significant impact on indie gaming, especially in the horror community. It led to the release of titles from different studios, all vying for thatPhasmosuccess. Games such asGhost ExileandGhost Watchersowe a debt of gratitude to Kinetic, taking inspiration from the OG’s cooperative elements mixed with all things paranormal. As such, the developer is always keen to keep its IP in good shape, and a significant update is on the horizon which will bring with it a number of changes.

In a recent post on Steam, labelled “Preview #9,” thePhasmophobiastudio has given some details on what’s to come in the “Progression 2.0” patch, going into specifics about the game’s thermometer. The post admits that the equipment used in the current build does have its problems, such as temperatures not being synced or finding there was “no gameplay” involved when using the item. As such, the thermometer is being given an overhaul and will come in three tiers, which includes new models and an upgrade to the old one. According to the roadmap, which looks at what’s in-store for the game, this major patch is due to roll out in Q3 2023. However, before then there is “Progression 1.0”, which is due to arrive in July. The post goes on to say that fans will be able to try out the new equipment before 2.0 arrives.

Progression 2.0 also represents a reset for the game, which means all players will start from 0. However, the update will allow people to display a badge that shows the level they achieved in the earlier build. An earlier post on Steam also outlined changes that were coming to the D.O.T.S. Projector, another one ofPhasmophobia’s many useful pieces of equipment, which will also have three tiers.

As scary as the game is,Phasmophobiais above all a fun experience, especially when played with friends. It can be quite amusing to see others bumbling about, panicking as a ghost moves in for the kill. However, it’s the fact that it can also be utterly petrifying that’s the major draw for a lot of ardent horror fans in.
