If players leave before they are able to complete this step, they will have to sacrifice approximately 50% of mission earnings for an outside party to clean the diamonds instead, making finding and using the scanner the most crucial component of the Dirty Heist mission inPayday 3.

Accessing the Workshop
The workshop is guarded by a biometric security scanner in the VIP Showroom that iscoded to the store’s manager- only the manager can access this lock; players cannothack the lock.
Players will need totake the manager as a human shieldand bring her to this lock in order to gain access to the workshop, although the manager is standing in the main lobby surrounded by employees and customers. Players will want to consider intimidation and manipulation skills if attempting to prevent a police assault and keep things quiet; otherwise, prepare as much as possible before masking up and going for the manager.
Players can also keep their eye out for thefavor Distracted Manager,which can be equipped in the pre-game lobby - this favor has the manager in the lunchroom rather than the main showroom, which gives players the opportunity to silently take her to the biometric scanner. Once at the scanner with the manager,shove her at the biometric lockto force her to unlock the door. After the lock confirms access is granted,open the door to the workshop and find the multi-tag scanneron the table inside.
Using and Fixing the Scanner
As players are bagging the jewelry throughout the showrooms, thejewels will need to be cleanedin order to get the maximum value out of the heist -pick up a bag, take it to the scanner, andthrow the bag into the semicircle on the end of the scanner. The scanner will take a while to process before delivering abundle of clean jewelsthat can be re-bagged and prepared for extraction. Players can put multiple bags into the scanner at the same time; however, players will need toremove the cleaned jewelry before a second batch will process.
Occasionally, the police will send in asabotage squadduring the assault. This squad willdeactivate the scanner through a main breaker switchlocated around the store. The location will change with each heist attempt, but is typicallylocated near one of the back two entrances. If players find the scanner is not working or notice an objective marker with a wrench symbol on the HUD,track down the breaker box and flip the switchto restore scanner functionality.
If players gain access to the vault, the rare stone does not need to be scanned. When the scanner is down to the last bag or two, signal the getaway and get out with all the cleaned ice.
