Following the launch ofOverwatch 2several weeks ago, one gamer has made a video reminding the community of some abilities that were removed from the originalOverwatch. While Blizzard’s sequel includes every hero fromOverwatch 1, some of their abilities have changed over the years.

Taking to Reddit, a user known as SeeOurTea shared a video they had created based on old clips fromOverwatch 1. They hilariously named the post “In memory of our lost abilities…” and included a sad song to suggest they were missed by some gamers. Furthermore, the video offers a heavy dose of nostalgia for a number of gamers who were part of theOverwatchexperience earlier on.

The montage began with a clip ofTorbjorn fromOverwatch 1, showing him placing armor packs on the ground. This ability allowed heroes to pick up the armor and add 75 armor points to their overall health pool, making them stronger in a fight. Following this, the video showed the Photon Shield for Symmetra, another ability removed by the developer.

Beyond these initial clips, the montage created by SeeOurTea showed Halt! for Orisa. In the highlight, the move pulled a group of enemies together and dropped them into an abyss on the Illios map. Some other old abilities included Hanzo’s Scatter Arrow andBastion’s Configuration: Tank. In addition, Mercy’s Resurrect was seen, which was an ability that has been reworked over the years.

While these abilities were removed from the game at different times and for various reasons, many fans are still nostalgic for them. This is evidenced by the amount of feedback SeeOurTea has seen on Reddit since posting this video. With an impressive 16.4K upvotes in only a few hours, many recalled the good times they had playing as the heroes when they had these old abilities. Among the comments, many talked about the effectiveness of Orisa’s Halt!, especially on certain maps.

It is worth noting that some of these abilities have been gone for quite a while. However, moves such as Orisa’s Halt! were taken out when the character received a rework forOverwatch 2. In addition to the abilities seen in this video by SeeOurTea, a variety of other moves have been removed from the series over the years. For example,Orisa lost more of her old abilities moving toOverwatch 2, including her Supercharger and Protective Barrier.

It is interesting to see how Blizzard has changed the way heroes play in theOverwatchseries over the years. WithOverwatch 2only in its first season, time will tell how the sequel evolves and what characters will have abilities altered in an effort to balance the gameplay. While it likely will not happen, it would be interesting to see some of these classic abilities return in the future, perhaps via the arcade.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
