Destiny 2’s Season of Dawn is coming to a close, as the game transitions into the Season of the Worthy this March.Destiny 2fans have been dissecting every piece of information, every reveal, speculating on what the future of the game holds.
A trailer for Season 10 featuresOsiris and Rasputin, characters who featured prominently in Year 1 expansions Curse of Osiris and Warmind. The two characters do seem to be linked if fans dig into the game’s lore, with a prediction from the Infinite Forest drawing Osiris to Mars and into a confrontation with the Warmind Rasputin. By revisiting previously featured characters, fans are expecting to see solid work with regard to the advancement of majorDestiny 2storylines. This tilt between Osiris and Rasputin, and the battle between light and dark certainly sets the stage for some theatrics.

However, revisiting old characters has led to some fans theorizing that Bungie intends to recycle assets for the upcoming campaign, something that did not happen in Season of Dawn. With the return of Warmind, fans are expecting to see some variant of the Escalation Protocol weapons and armor as well as some Braytech-themed weapons and armor. The Escalation Protocol gear are fan favorite pieces, but the undertones in the fan community hint that while that content was great, to bring it back is a tad predictable from Bungie.
Despite these concerns, it appears that the game will be making some interesting changes in Season 10,including a rework of swords inDestiny 2,making them more appealing for players to use. The weapon will now have an energy meter on the HUD, replacing the player’s melee slot when a sword is equipped. Just how much this will bring swords into relevance in-game, besides their noted speedrunning properties, remains to be seen. But it is important to note that while some reused assets may appear, changes like this are also on the way for Season 10.
While fans wait with bated breath to find out just what Season of the Worthy holds, the idea of recycled assets being featured has some feeling less enthusiastic. This might not be such a bad thing, if Bungie can balance the old and the new, it should be able to keep fans invested in the long-running franchise.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One.
