Mojang added Ravagers toMinecraftas part of the 1.14 update and the creature has remained one of the most intimidating enemies in the game. Now aMinecraftplayer has shared some handy tips on how to effectively counter the powerful beast.
Reddit user InfinityswordofD recently posted aMinecraftclip in which they showed three helpful methods to defeat the often deadly Ravagers. These three techniques require very minimal supplies, ensuring that they will work for mostMinecraftplayers. Some of the supplies required to execute these Ravager counters include Stone tools, wooden planks, a trapdoor, and an Oak Button.

InfinityswordofD’s first Ravager counter involves digging a four-space hole straight down before looking up at the enemy Ravager which should be gazing down into the hole at theMinecraftplayer. As the Ravager in InfinityswordofD’s clip looked into the hole of astandardMinecraftbiome, InfinityswordofD hit it five times with a Stone Axe before digging one space deeper as the Ravager focused on them more. Jumping each time they continued to attack the Ravager with their Stone Axe, InfinityswordofD defeated the intimidating beast with five more hits.
For InfinityswordofD’s second Ravager method, theMinecraftplayer once again withdrew a Stone Axe alongside eight Oak Planks and an Oak Trapdoor. To use this counter,Minecraftplayers will have to build four spaces up before building one space to the side, a space up, and then back to above the original stack of four wooden planks. Above the empty space, InfinityswordofD placed the Oak Trapdoor and immediately opened it before attacking the Ravager from four spaces above it, a technique that may be particularly helpful forHardcoreMinecraftfans.
During the second InfinityswordofD counter,Minecraftfans can see the powerful creature slowly back up as it’s hit with the Stone Axe. At half health, the Ravager notifiesMinecraftplayers that it’s weakening while black hearts fall from its body with every attack. Similar to the rewards that a Ravager drops when it’s defeated inMinecraft Dungeons, the beast rewards a Saddle and a whopping 20 experience points, the highest experience rewards from enemies that aren’t bosses.
For InfinityswordofD’s third and final Ravager counter,Minecraftplayers simply need a button. InfinityswordofD’s example used an Oak Button as Oak is commonly available inMinecraft, but it’s likely that any type of button will suffice. After spawning the Ravager, InfinityswordofD ran several spaces away, placing a button on the ground behind them. After pressing the Oak Button as the Ravager got between InfinityswordofD and the chest of supplies that they pulled from, the Ravager immediately collapsed, skipping the half-health spinning animation.
Because the Ravager can destroy as it moves, other techniques fromMinecraftplayers haven’t worked out as well, but InfinityswordofD is confident in their methods. As Mojang continues to updateMinecraftwith new content and fixes, it’s currently unclear if InfinityswordofD’s button counter for Ravagers will be fixed in future updates. InMinecraft’srecent Caves and Cliffs Part 2update, the depth of caverns was extended while new biomes and other content was added to the game.
