Minecrafthas an absurd amount ofdifferent biomesfor the player to explore at any given time. From scorching deserts to the deep reaches of the ocean, the player has no shortage of interesting locales to mark their mark in. Not all biomes are created equal, however. Some biomes might be better than other for a variety of reasons, sometimes they have unique enemies that the player would rather avoid, there aren’t a lot of food sources, etc.

Another reason is that most biomes inMinecrafthave specificloot that generates within them, such as jungle temples, buried treasureand even whole cities. This is one area that can make or break a particular biome for some players, so here is a list of just a few ofMinecraft’sbiomes ranked according to what kind of loot they feature.

8Badlands

Badlands usually have a bunch of easily accessible chests lying around caves and exposed abandoned mine shafts for players to find. For a player just starting a new world these chests can give them a serious head start, especially if they happen to have diamonds, ingots, horse armor or any other valuable ore/resource.

Gold ore in particular generates higher up than other biomes, making it easier to find. In general, Badlands aren’t the most loot-rich biome, but they are certainly not to be ignored by the player.

7Jungles

Not many biomes in the overworld make it quite as easy to get lost as jungles do. In some ways this makes them one of the more fun biomes to explore, and given that they’re a source for certain unique items and mobs such as cocoa pods and parrots, the player can easily walk away with a rather hefty reward.

On top of this however, are jungle temples, which offer the player plenty of valuable loot - so long as they survive their traps. Jungle temples are extremely rare, however, and even if they do spawn it’s possible for the player to miss them altogether.

6Deserts

Exploring a desert might seem monotonous at first, but any player worth their emeralds knows the loot potential they hold. The big thing to look out for is desert temples, which are partially buried structures that may contain extremely valuable items such as iron, diamondsand even enchanted booksif the player is lucky enough.

Sometimes, a desert will have more than one temple at a time, making them more common than jungle temples and much easier to find even if they’re partially buried. Temples are also a guaranteed source of dynamite if the player can disarm the trap in the treasure room.

5Dark Forests

While dark forests might seem like cramped and boring versions of regular forests, they are the only biome in which the player will find a woodland mansion. Mansions are the real gems of dark forests because they, unlike desert temples for example, will randomly generate different rooms which contain varying types of loot.

Some of this might just end up being the bog-standard kind, but other times the player can find solid blocks of diamond in certain rooms, though this is very rare. Mansions are also a great source of Totems of Undying asEvokers will drop them upon death, and Allays which spawn in the mansion’s jail room in relatively high numbers.

4Oceans

While oceans inMinecraftwere merely large spaces of open nothingness for a long time, over time they received several updates that made them much more worthwhile to explore. Ocean ruins contain chests filled with some useful items, shipwrecks have maps to buried treasure (which itself is a big deal), and of course ocean temples have massive amounts of gold and are the one place the player can get sponges easily.

Exploring the deep reaches of the ocean is best done with potions of water breather, night vision and invisibility, as these will allow the player to do so unimpeded by the lack of air and light orhostile mobs like Drowned.

3The Deep Dark

The best thing about the Deep Dark biome is the ancient city. A new relatively new addition toMinecraft, ancient cities are oneof the hardest biomes to explore due to the presence of the Warden. That said, the unique loot they offer can make them well worth the effort.

In addition to the generic items that spawn in each of the chests found around any given city (which can be around thirty at a time or more), there are a handful of unique items that can’t be found anywhere else in the game.

This includes items such as swift sneak enchantments, disk fragments and echo shards, the latter of which is used to craft a recovery compass. Recovery compasses will point the player to the player to where they last died, potentially allowing them to find their lost gear more quickly.

2The Nether

The Nether has so much going on that it kind of impossible to ignore from a loot gathering perspective. There areNether fortresses and bastions, which have the chance to contain all manner of rare goodies, the unique mobs like Blazes and Withers, not to mention ancient debris and all the other Nether specific resources.

Traveling to the Nether can be quite perilous, especially if the player is under equipped, however the potential reward for a proper trek into this Hellish dimension is absolutely worth the danger since it can result in the player obtaining some of the best equipment in the game.

1The End

As its name implies, The End is essentially the endgame for Minecraft, and as such contains a litany of endgame items for the player to take back with them. End cities are really where the good stuff spawns, and by good stuff this refers to various potions, ingots, emeralds, diamonds, enchanted armor and of course, elytra.

Along with elytra, End cities are also the only location the player can obtain shulker shells in order to craft a shulker box. The true prize, however, are the dragon heads found only on the bow of an End ship. All of this makes the End perhapsthe best biomefor loot in the entirety ofMinecraft.
