The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, New York has been a Thanksgiving tradition for decades now, airing on NBC since 1952. The parade is made up of huge floats representing various pop culture characters and the like, and this year’s parade even included an appearance byDragon Ball Z’s Goku in his Super Saiyan Blue form. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Goku float was featured in part to promote the upcomingDragon Ball Z: Kakarotvideo game, the title of which had host Hoda Kotb cracking up.
Hoda was given the job of explainingDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and how it will give fans the chance to relive Goku’s story in celebration of the anime’s 30th anniversary. However, when Hoda had to say the word “Kakarot,” she started laughing, barely able to compose herself long enough to say thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwould be releasing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this coming January.

It was certainly one of the more amusing moments from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, especially forDragon Ball Zfans. Hoda seemed to be surprised by the word “Kakarot,” and it’s easy to see how someone’s first reaction may be to laugh when they have to say a word that they have never seen before. After all, many of the names in theDragon Ball Zfranchise are actually intended to be funny in a way, with most everyone named after food or food puns.
Fans will have a chance to revisit all the crazy character names in theDragon Ball Zanime withDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, which is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious games based on the anime/manga franchise to date.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas all the story arcs from the series, plus filler episode content and brand new, original story beats and characters. Its status as an action-RPG as opposed to a fighting game like mostDBZtitles is also exciting, and if it’s able to stick the landing, it could very well end up being one of the biggest games of 2020.
With theDragon Ball Z: Kakarotrelease datejust a couple of months away, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see if the game lives up to the hype.
