With a roster spanning over 150 characters ranging from ordinary humans to bizarre Lovecraftian beasts,League of Legendshas built a diverse and unique lineup since the game was released with its original 40 champions in 2009.Recent characters like Zeriand Renata Glasc have seen Riot Games move in bold new directions with its characters' gameplay, while the company continues to bring up older champions like Udyr and Aurelion Sol and modernizes their kits. Now, a recent leak has revealed the game’s next character, and it’s one fans have been waiting for.
League of Legendshas seen plenty of new characters in recent months spanning many of the world of Runeterra’s regions, however, the dark horror-themed Void hasn’t been on the receiving end of Riot’s developmental efforts in quite some time. Four years have passed since Riot last welcomed a Void character intoLeague of Legendswith Kai’Sa’s release in 2018, and fans have been begging for a new monstrous addition to the game’s roster from the region. Now, a prominentLeague of Legendsleaker has unveiled the long-awaited Void champion, Bel’Veth.

League of LegendsYouTuber and leaker Ryscu uploaded a video early Wednesday giving fans their first look at Bel’veth’s in-game model and a hint at the character’s gameplay. Bel’veth’s normal form portrays the character as a manatee-like Void beast with a purple underbelly and a human head poking out of the top of the creature. Ryscu goes on to explain that when Bel’veth uses herUltimate inLeague of Legends, she assumes a more beastly form, with the human head being replaced by a gold headpiece and gold trimming along the wings.
Alongside the reveal of Bel’veth’s base skin, Ryscu also teased the premium skin the character would be receiving on her launch, hinting that Bel’veth will release with a Battle Boss skin. A Battle Boss skin for Bel’veth would mark the first time Riot has returned to the Arcade theming since 2019 when Caitlyn and Kai’Sa received Arcade skins, and Qiyana and Yasuo saw their opposing Battle Boss skins. Riot has yet toofficially confirm an upcoming Arcade-themed event, however, Battle Boss Bel’veth would likely be joined by a handful of other additions to the skin line.
Bel’veth’s leak comes as Riot Games looks to have plenty on the horizon throughout the year for its flagship game. In previous discussions aboutLeague of Legends' plans for 2022,Riot has hinted at several new championscoming to the game from regions of Runeterra’s worldLeague of Legendshas yet to explore. In addition, reworks of older champions said to be coming this year like Udyr and Skarner have been a hot topic forLeagueplayers for years. Bel’veth’s introduction toLeague of Legendswill mark the MOBA’s highly-anticipated return to one of the game’s most neglected regions.
