Take this one with a grain of salt:Kingdom Hearts 3might be making its way over to the PC when its upcoming DLC,Re: Mind, drops. The DLC only has a month left before it releases, however, so a PC port seems unlikely.

While it’s possible that Square Enix has been working on a PC port of the game, had it any intention of releasing it alongsideRe: Mind, it surely would have mentioned it inthe final trailer that released for the DLCat the beginning of this month.

Still, this does come from a Microsoft store listing ofKingdom Hearts 3, specifically, for theRe: Mindversion, so this could have some legitimacy. It works like this: the installation methods forKingdom Hearts 3andKingdom Hearts 3 Re: Minddeviate from one another on the Microsft store. The installation for the original version of the game states, “Install on your home Xbox One console plus have access when you’re connected to your Microsoft account.” TheRe: Mindversion, however, reads, “Get this app while signed in to your Microsoft account and install on your Windows 10 devices.”

The installation of the base game limits installing to the Xbox One alone - as expected. The installation ofRe: Mind, however, leaves things a little more open-ended. TheRe: Mindinstallation countsRe: Mindas an app, though, and not DLC, so this could very well be a copy-editing error on Microsoft’s part. It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened with an online store listing.

On the other hand, theKingdom Heartsseries has been branching out to other major consoles lately. Initially only available on handhelds or the PlayStation series,Kingdom Heartsdid things differently withKingdom Hearts 3by making it available on the Xbox One. Square Enix also announced at the Xo19 event that therest of theKingdom Heartsseries would come to Xboxsometime next year. It’s not unlikely then thatKingdom Hearts 3(and possibly the rest of the series) finds itself ported to the PC to cap off its availability on the three biggest gaming machines for multi-platform titles.

If this turns out to be the case, maybe Square Enix isn’t done promotingRe: Mindjust yet. Ever sinceFinal Fantasycharacters were confirmed to return to the series, fans have been waiting to see if the publisher will announce Cloud and Sephiroth returning forRe: Mindbefore the DLC releases. An announcement thatKingdom Hearts 3will receive a PC port could go hand-in-hand with this.

Kingdom Hearts 3is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
