Ever sinceCommunityended in2015, fans have heard about a potentialCommunitymovie. Since the TV series changed networks before the final season, it seemed like anything was possible. The Community Movie Is Officially Happening
Good news for fans of the unique and quirky sitcom: theCommunitymovie is happening andcreator Dan Harmonhas shared an update about the script. Harmon toldVariety:
“I can confirm Donald Glover’s report that I told him the script was done, but I will also say Donald’s sources are so unreliable because the script is always ‘almost done. What can I tell you about it — it’s set on the campus of Greendale Community College. I’m super excited about it, and we’re almost done.”
Harmon referred to an interview thatDonald Glover, who played Troy Barnes, gave in lateJanuary 2024. The actor toldEntertainment Tonight:
“I was told that the script – literally, I was texting today – I was told that the script was done… I haven’t read it yet,”
Glover added that he definitely wants to be in theCommunitymovie: “It’s really just a schedule thing [but] I’m in. I’m all in.”

Harmon added in his interview with Variety that he has felt nostalgic while writing theCommunitymovie. Given the manyhilariousCommunityparody episodesand the bond between the characters, fans feel the same way. Harmon said, “I’ve been having kind of a nervous breakdown the last couple of months just by working on it." He continued:
“and that’s a good thing because I’m having all kinds of flashbacks to 2009. It’s gonna be awesome. I’m like, ‘Why am I crying about these characters?'”
For several years now, the cast ofCommunityhas answered questions about theCommunitymovie, and they often say that they are looking forward to it. However, until know, there haven’t been any concrete details. InFebruary 2023, Danny Pudi, who playedAbed Nadir, toldVariety, “it looks likely this year. Right now, it’s just the timing.”Alison Brie, who played Annie Edison, told the publication, “I’m clearing that schedule.”
Also in February 2023,Brie told The A.V. Club about theCommunitymovie, “We areallegedlyshooting it this summer, is the most that I know.” She continued, “I do believe that theCommunitymovie will get made. It’s been sold—to Peacock! But because of everything we went through on that show… I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s not until I’m on set that I’ll be like, ‘We’re making it!’”
Fan Theories About The Community Movie
Fans have been thinking about what theCommunitymovie could be about for a long time. Redditor @RandallHicks asked what others think that theCommunitymovie’s main plot should be in aReddit thread. The fan wrote:
“some sort of murder mystery style. Maybe something like the dean has been killed and the gang is forced to solve his murder by rejoining forces. And just when hope seems lost, Troy returns to save the day. Lastly, and I may get flak for this, but I hope we see romance again between Annie and Jeff.”
