A JapanesePokemonfan has caught all 1,312 Shiny Pokemon, including all different types and variants, showing off their impressive catalog viaPokemon Home.

Catching even one Shiny Pokemon is a rare occurrence, so obtaining every single Shiny across multiple games is certainly an impressive feat. Shiny Pokemon were originally introduced in the Generation 2 games,Pokemon GoldandSilver, where Shininess was determined by a Pokemon’s stats, but afterward changed to their personality value, a randomly assigned number, and the trainer’s ID number. Regardless, the chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon is extremely low, about 1 in every 8,000. Most trainers will never come across a Shiny, but the odds didn’t stop one Pokemon trainer from catching them all.

The Pokemon trainer known as Kyudan shared their collection viaPokemon Home. For those not in the know,Pokemon Homeis a useful mobile app that links together variousPokemontitles includingSwordandShield,GO, and bothLet’s Gogames, allowing for transfers between them. It also functions as a Pokedex, allowing trainers to keep an inventory of each of their captures. On Twitter, Kyudan showed off an impressive storage of 1,312 Shiny Pokemon. This number includes variants such as color and different Shiny types.

For example, according to Kyudan’s post, they’ve caught each type ofVivillon, a butterfly Pokemon that was introduced during the Generation 6 games. Currently, there are known to be 20 different patterns of Vivillon, such as the Paris Poke Ball Pattern, the Summer 2014 Poke Ball Pattern, and the Pokemon Center Hiroshima Poke Ball Pattern. Likewise, the Pokemon derived from Latin alphabet characters, Unown, has 28 different possible shapes. While its normal form features a black exterior, its Shiny form is instead blue.

Kyudan might be the first to accomplish the goal of catching every single Shiny Pokemon in existence following Generation 8, or to go on record for it. While it may have been easy to catch each Shiny Pokemon back during the earlier generations ofPokemon, now there are898 Pokemon in totalacross the franchise. To put this feat into perspective, it would take, on average, over 6.5 million Pokemon encounters to complete the Shiny roster, and followingSwordandShield, players were wondering if it was even possible to obtain all Shiny Pokemon.

This accomplishment was impressive not only to fans, but to Junichi Masuda himself. One of the founding members of development studio Game Freak, Masuda has composed every core seriesPokemongame so far as well as served as a designer and director on many of the games. He also founded the Masuda method, a method ofobtaining Shiny Pokemonmore quickly.
