Deadpoolstar Ryan Reynolds celebrated his birthday on October 23, and his freshly announced co-star and long-term frenemy Hugh Jackman shared a hilarious greeting on social media. Every year, the two actors post funny images or videos to wish each other well on their respective birthdays, but this year was a bit special with the two confirmed to appear together inDeadpool 3.
Jackman’s Wolverine has been a fan-favorite character ever since he first appeared inX-Menback in 2000, whereas Reynolds’Deadpoolhas been a largely successful franchise. Withboth characters coming together inDeadpool3, it was expected that the actors would use the opportunity to poke fun at each other. Jackman has taken the first blow, and the floor is now open for Reynolds to rebut.

Taking to Twitter, Jackman posted a fun greeting video for Reynolds, while tagging him in the post along with a cupcake icon. The video begins with Jackman lighting a candle on a cupcake that he holds, while he sits in front of some artwork of his best friend. There’s a post-it on one of the paintings, and a small balloon attached to the other that reads “Happy Birthday.” He hums the birthday song and tells Reynolds that he’s making a wish. “All I want to say is, I’m the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice,” he then says, which is his character’s most iconic catchphrase.
The most hilarious aspect of the video is that after saying Wolverine’s catchphrase, Jackman tries to blow out the candle and fails. His reaction to his failure is a tribute to the years of frenemy content that both Jackman and Reynolds have been posting. The video works as a good tease for what fanscan expect fromDeadpool 3, where both the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine will share screen space. There seems to be some bad blood already, and it is only going to escalate from here on.
While fans believed that 2017’sLoganwas the last time they would see Jackman’s Wolverine on screen, it was recently confirmed thatJackman would be a part ofDeadpool 3. Jackman has appeared as the fan-favorite character in several films, but this team-up has become one of the most anticipated projects in the near future. Very little is known about the plot ofDeadpool 3, and it is confirmed that the film will carry the same R rating as its predecessors.
Deadpool 3is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 24, 2025.
