The Paragon or Renegade choice system is one of the most well-known mechanics of theMass Effecttrilogy. Every playthrough can be a uniquecombination of Paragon and Renegade actions. Some players can’t stomach being mean to the NPCs, so they opt to not do any Renegade options throughout the trilogy.
Others aren’t as gentle with the NPCs and opt for a full-Renegade run instead. Sometimes, players follow the middle of the road, being both Paragon and Renegade whenever they choose. Ultimately, the choice is up to the player. However, they need to be confident in their decision, because sometimes actions inMass Effecthave major consequences down the road.

Mass Effectis built on a choice system. Every choice will lead to an outcome that can be considered “good” or “bad.” Sometimes, if players don’t choose correctly, someone ends up dead. The stakes inMass Effect 3are even higher, as it’s the final game in the trilogy and the fate of the Milky Way rests on Commander Shepard’s shoulders.
There are moments that make players laugh, but there are an equal amount of moments that make them cry. As a franchise,Mass Effectlets playersget to know the cast of characters, leading to a connection with the NPCs — some can even be romanced. But when gut-wrenching things happen, it’s not just Commander Shepard who’s affected, the player behind the controller is as well. Throughout three games,Mass Effectis an epic journey that will take players on a roller coaster of emotion and it’s best to be prepared for that upfront.
