Updated April 24th, 2024 by Christopher Norman Worcester:With the recent release of the Fallout television series, and the ongoing expansion to its game world, Fallout 76 has seen a massive resurgence of late. This update will add all new information regarding Legendary Cores, including the current events that offer them as rewards.
Fallout 76’s Steel Reign update adds a Legendary crafting system to Bethesda’s online RPG, which allows players to give Legendary attributes to normal items. This system also makes it possible to re-roll the attributes of Legendaries that fans already have in their possession, though doing either of these things does require that a couple of different crafting components be expended. One of the components thatFallout76players will need are Legendary Cores, and this guide will detail where they can be found.
How to Get Legendary Cores in Fallout 76
To get right to it,Legendary Cores are obtainedby completing Daily Ops, Public Events, andSeasonal Events inFallout 76. Of these three sources, Public Events are likely to be what provide players with most of their Legendary Cores, and they appear as exclamation points on the in-game map. Notably, the difficulty of the event and how well a fan performs does impact the number of Legendary Cores that are granted, with some rewarding as many as eight.
For those players that are curious about exactly which events can award this maximum number of Legendary Cores, A Colossal Problem, Encryptid, Free Range, and Project Paradise all have the potential to grant eight of them.Fallout 76fansshould certainly not neglect the other Public Events, though, as they all provide at least one Legendary Core upon successful completion. Indeed, with each 3-star Legendary roll requiring that five Cores be spent, players are advised to take every opportunity that they come across to get them.

With respect to the other component that is used in Legendary crafting, they are called Legendary Modules and come fromFallout 76’s Purveyor Murmrgh. This mole miner is not willing to let the components go for free, though, and indeed players will need to pay her 50 scrips per Legendary Module. Fortunately, scrips can be obtained by completing Daily Ops, which means that fans will earn some of them as they work to collect Legendary Cores.
After obtaining both of theseLegendary crafting components inFallout 76, fans should visit an Armor or Weapon Workbench and choose the item that they want to give Legendary attributes to. They should then select the Legendary Mod slot and pick the one that is of interest, with the 3-Star Legendary Mod being the most powerful of the bunch. Fans will then see a random assortment of attributes applied to the equipment, and they are free to repeat this process until they get the exact item that they want.
