Recap of Season 3

Demon Slayer’smost recent season starts with Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu alongside Nezuko, rescuedby the Kakushiafter the exhilarating battle against Daki and Gyutaro. All still recovering, Muzan summons all members of the Upper Moon and demands the destruction of the Swordsmith village, the source of theDemon Slayers’ Nichirin Blades, leaving the task to Upper Moon four and five, Hantengu and Gyokko respectively. With Inosuke and Zenitsu away on different missions, Tanjiro continues rehabilitation and must go to the Swordsmith village to meet with his sword forger, the hotheaded Hotaru Haganezuka, who refuses to forge him a sword again.

Tanjiro’s arrival at the swordsmith village finally kicks off the show’s third season as he meets the village chief, Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, and Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, both of whom become invaluable allies to him during the battle against Gyokko and Hantengu. Unaware of the evil lurking, the mood in the Swordsmith village is lighter, with Tanjro befriending Kotetsu, a young swordsmith, who lets him use the functional but severely damaged mechanical training doll used by the Mist Hashira for his training. The training proves to be rather brutal, but Tanjiro can finally land a hit on the sparring doll after several days. In the process, he destroys the doll but finds a sword in the sparring dummy. At this point, Gyokko and Hantengu have already infiltrated the village, and a fierce battle ensues between Tanjiro, Genya, the Love and Mist Hashiras, and the two Upper-ranked Demons, which results in the defeat of both demons and a shocking discovery is made about Nezuko.

How Much Manga Content Will The New Season Contain?

Demon Slayer’s fourth season is expected to pick up directly from where it left off at the end of theSwordsmith Village Arc.However, it remains to be seen how much of the remaining events of the manga will be adapted into the show’s fourth season. Looking at previous seasons, especially its first season, which adapted the series’ first seven volumes, ending at chapter 54 of the manga, and second season, which adapted volumes seven to eleven, there seemed to be a consistent pattern of adaptation of at least two significant arcs from the manga until that was disrupted in its third season, whichadapted only the Swordsmith Arccontained in volumes twelve to fifteen of the manga.

It can be speculated, using previous seasons and given how expansive the next major arc of the story is, that the story’s upcoming season will only feature the events of theHashira Training Arc. The fourth season is not expected to cover beyond the training arc, as the story’s conclusion lies beyond that. However, the new season may possibly be the series’ last. Still, following the manner of adaptation of previous seasons, it is highly probable that the manga adaptation will not go beyond theHashira Training Arc.
