Rescuing Magical Beasts is one of many features that drawsHogwarts Legacyplayers into the Wizarding World. Once players complete the quest titled “The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom,” they gain access to the ability to capture as many Magical Beasts as they can fit within their Nab-sack and Vivariums. Puffskeins act as thetutorial for using the Nab-sack, but players aren’t limited to just the first Puffskein they catch in the aforementioned quest. In fact, there are numerous Puffskein Dens scattered all throughout the world map for players to find, each containing several Puffskeins that can be rescued.
Puffskeins are described as the ideal pet for wizardkind, as they are both “soft enough to cuddle but tough enough to be thrown around.” AsHogwarts Legacyplayers will have no doubt seen during their first-ever Beasts class, the Puffskein’s primary food source is bogeys, and they are prone to sticking their long tongues up their owners' noses in search of this delicacy.

Where to Find Puffskein Dens
To find any den, simply comb the world map for a symbol that looks like a Beast’s paw and hover over it to find what kind of Magical Beast lives there. Finding a Puffskein Den using this method should be simple, as they are quite common. Specifically, the closest Puffskein Den can be found justnorth of Hogwarts on the road to Hogsmeade. This is the same Puffskein Den that players visited with Deek in the introductory quest.
In totalthere are seven Puffskein Dens. There are two to the north of Hogwarts, one to the southeast, one to the southwest in the Feldcroft Region, and three in the far southern region past the Coastal Cave.
Rescuing Puffskeins and Getting Puffskein Fur
Puffskeins are definitely the easiest of theMagical Beasts inHogwarts Legacyto rescue. Just use the Nab-sack on them and press the button one time and they will immediately fly into the Nab-sack. Players can also rescue a shiny Puffskein, denoted by the star next to the gender marker, which are white in color. Now players can take them back to their Vivarium where feeding and brushing them will earn them Puffskein Fur. This item is used to upgrade some weaker gear and assign low-level traits to gear. Every time the player cares for their Puffskein they will receive three Puffskein Furs.
Puffskeins can also besold to the Brood and Peck for 120 Galleonsor simply released to the wild from the inventory menu. Players that have the Toy Chest Spellcraft will find the Puffskein’s favorite toy, the Bogey Ball, inside.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version arrives on June 11, 2025.
