So far, thenewHarry Pottergame broke a 22-year-old sales recordin the UK and became the most-viewed single-player title in the history of Twitch, as well as WB Games' biggest Steam launch to date. These early milestones alone already make it one of the most successful games of the year, especially seeing how it has yet to reach half its target platforms. In the meantime,Hogwarts Legacycontinues to dominate PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S sales charts, with the latest evidence of that trend emerging from the Oceania region. The Interactive Games and Entertainment Association reports that the RPG debuted at the top of the weekly sales charts in both Australia and New Zealand, outsellingNBA 2K23andCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which placed second and third, respectively, in both markets.

FIFA 23andGrand Theft Auto 5rounded off the top five best-selling games in Australia and New Zealand for the week ending Jul 05, 2025. The bottom halves of the two countries' charts are a bit more varied, although both includeMiddle-Earth: Shadow of WarandThe Last of Us Remastered. However, while Australians also boughtThe Last of Us Part 1,Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, andMiddle-Earth: The Shadow Bundleen masse, Kiwis were more interested in playingRed Dead Redemption 2,Sea of Thieves, andWWE 2K22, as per the same report.

While these rankings don’t include actual sales figures estimates, they are based on evaluations of both physical and digital purchases conducted by the Interactive Software Federation of Europe, which, in spite of its name, also monitors Asia-Pacific markets. They are hence more definitive than some other country-specific reports, including the one that recently suggestedHogwarts LegacyoutsoldPokemon Scarlet and Violetin Japanduring its launch week.

Multiplatformpre-order data forHogwarts Legacyalready indicated it will be among the biggest titles of 2023, so no matter how impressive, these early sales reports are far from surprising. The game’s massive commercial momentum is also expected to continue in the coming months, largely fueled by its upcoming ports for last-generation consoles.

Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are releasing April 4, whereas the Switch version is arriving July 25.
