Fans ofMetal Gear SolidandDeath Strandingcreator Hideo Kojima were treated to another surprise cryptic teaser posted to his official Twitter today. The post comes in light of a rumor stating that Kojima’s next project will be a sequel to his highly popular game,Death Stranding.
Kojima Productions’ next big title, other than Xbox’s ProjectOverdose, has been unknown yet cryptically teased for quite some time. Kojima previously stated that he would reveal a VR title at the Tokyo Game Show. However, the only new information fans gained about the project was yet anothersilhouetted character teaserthat some speculate as a new character Elle Fanning will portray in the possibleDeath Strandingsequel. A previous report also revealed a rumor surrounding an exclusive Google Stadia title from Kojima, but it was supposedly canceled due to the game being single-player only. Now, it is speculated that Kojima’s next title will be a PlayStation exclusive instead and might even be theDeath Strandingsequel fans are hoping for.

The latest Twitter post revealed a picture of the silhouette of a character, possibly a woman, with bright lights behind them along with a message that reads “The answer to ‘WHO’ at TGS will be in the next ‘WHERE’.” There are manyspeculations flying around the internetas to what Kojima is getting at with this news. For example, there have been previous suggestions made byDeath Strandingactor Norman Reedus about a possible sequel to the franchise in the works, further supporting the Elle Fanning theory. Not to mention the fact that earlier this year Kojima posted yet another cryptic message on Twitter that referenced HAL-9000 from 2001:A Space Odyssey.
The latest cryptic Twitter message does not particularly reveal anything new from what was teased at the Tokyo Game Show, but perhaps it does tease that more specific information about the “who” and “where” will soon be released. Either way,Kojima is teasing something hugeand exciting for fans to look forward to, and the attempt to generate online buzz around the project is definitely working.
With so little information, and even less context, the announcement has left many of the details up to the imagination. ADeath Strandingsequel is the best answer fans have come up with to each cryptic teaser so far, but there’s also room for speculation about another original title since the silhouetted character is still unknown. Another possibility fans are hoping for is a titlesimilar to the popularP.T.demo, though previous rumors have made this idea unlikely. There is also little information to decipher regardingOverdose, so at this point, it’s just a matter of waiting to see what the next teaser will be. Either way, Kojima Productions is up to something big with its upcoming title.
