While Zelnick responded by saying that Take-Two leaves it up to its developers to announce their own dates, he immediately followed that up by saying that he’s confident that 2025 will generate at least $8 billion for the company. Grand Theft Auto 6 Needs to Launch on PC on Day One

Rockstar Games has never released one of its recent titles on PC at the same time as other platforms. This unfortunate trend goes way back, but some more recent examples can be seen fromGrand Theft Auto 4onwards.GTA 4initially launched in April 2008, and its PC port wouldn’t arrive until December of the same year.L.A. Noirewas a similar story, releasing in May 2011 for consoles, and in November for PC.Max Payne3followed suit, though this time the gap between platform releases was admittedly much smaller, with the PC port releasing just 14 days after its console counterparts.

The last two mainline Rockstar Games releases -Grand Theft Auto 5andRed Dead Redemption 2- have been the worst offenders of them all.GTA 5initially launched in September 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.GTA 5then received a PS4 and Xbox One port in November 2014. It took until April 2015 forGTA 5to come to PC, a whole 19 months after its initial release.Red Dead 2was a little better, though it still took just over a year for its PC port to come out.

Developing games for the PC platform has apparently become a pretty difficult task. With so many different components that can be customized, it’s increasingly hard for developers to create an experience that’s functional and polished for all PC users after a console launch. That being said, it doesn’t mean thatRockstar’s approach to PChasn’t been pretty unfair to its fans using the platform, forcing them to wait upwards of a year, sometimes even longer, before they can get their hands on the most recent title, by which point a lot of players have had the story and experience spoiled, and the hype has died down.

Grand Theft Auto 6is one of the most anticipated games of all time, and the hype surrounding its release is already at an unprecedented level, even though it hasn’t been officially revealed yet. Millions of PC players are going to be champing at the bit to playGTA 6, and it doesn’t make much sense for Rockstar to leave them in the wind yet again. Now, more than ever, Rockstar needs to shake its tradition of forgetting the PC market and bringGTA 5to PC on day one, alongside every other platform.
