Throughout every game in theGod of Warseries, Kratos has always had an impressive arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Whether it is the notoriousBlades of Chaosor the Leviathan Axe, Kratos is certainly well armed for any situation.
While he does get other weapons inGod of War Ragnarok, the main way that players can expand their actions in combat is by purchasing weapon skills that are unique to each weapon. To expand those skills further, it is possible for players to modify (or mod for short) those skills and add additional effects to them. This guide will show players how to mod skills inGod of War Ragnarok.

How to Mod Skills
Modifying Skills inGod of War Ragnarokmay sound simple, but the game does not provide an explanation as to how that is accomplished. At first glance, all players will see is that certain skills they haveunlocked by spending XPwill have Labors that can be progressed to improve the tier of that skill. There are three tiers for a skill, and they are bronze, silver, and gold.
In order to upgrade a skill, players must use that skill and successfully land a hit on an enemy with it. It doesn’t matter if it is a boss or a regular enemy. Once the skill has been successfully used enough times, the tier for that skill will upgrade. OnceGod of War Ragnarokplayers havefully upgraded a skill to gold, they will be able to modify it.
How Can a Skill be Modded?
Once a skill has been fully upgraded to the highest tier,God of War Ragnarokplayers will need to navigate to the skill menu. There, they will see that they have the option to choose what mod to apply to that skill.There are three different Mod Tokens that players can choose from, and they are Elemental, Damage, and Stun.
The Elemental Mod Token boosts the effect of the Element Status that the weapon inflicts. This particular Mod Token pairs well with ahigh Runic stat. The Damage Mod Token slightly increases the damage of the skill. The Stun Mod Token improves how much the skill fills the Stun Bar of an enemy.
In the example above, askill for the Leviathan Axewas fully upgraded and the Damage Mod Token was chosen. It does not matter which Mod Token players choose, as this is more of a matter of preference and play style than anything else.
Mod Tokens are not free, they cost 1,000 XP to purchase.
Can All Skills be Modded?
While there are a great deal of skills available forGod of War Ragnarokplayers to purchase and equip, not all of them can be modded. A good example of skills that cannot be modded are ones that enhance the effectiveness of other skills.
