Excited to show off their new,God of War-themed tattoo, Redditor halestormLA posted a picture of their impressive ink to the r/GodofWar subreddit. At first glance, the stunning tattoo looks to be a near-perfect recreation of the distinctive decorations gracing Atreus’ arms, but halestormLA actually chose to personalize the runes with a custom message inspired by theGod of Warfranchise. Rather than using the same Norse runes that line Atreus’ arms, this customGod of Wartattoouses runes to spell out a quote from the game, reading “Open/Close Your Heart to It.”

The response to halestomLA’s stunning, Atreus-inspired tattoo was overwhelmingly positive, with one popular comment paraphrasing Kratos’ oft-repeated refrain by posting “Read the runes, boi…” Other Redditors were amused by the not-so-subtle callback to the games included in the title of the post, which concludes with Atreus’s signature exclamation of “whatever.” Some replies shared plans for their ownGod of War Ragnarok-themed tattoos in the future, leading one commenter to joke that they would love to get Freya’s tattoos but think they’d “get frustrated when I can’t get them to glow blue.”

Although this certainly isn’t the first time that aGod of Warfan has decided to recreate Atreus’ trademark tattoos for themselves, the customized runes have ensured that this impressive inkwork is a true one-of-a-kind. And while it’s unclearwhat Atreus’ future holdsgoing forward in the franchise, at least his tattoos will always hold a place of honor on this gamer’s arm.
