On the bottom left corner of the UI fans noticed yellow circles. During the State of Play, the new yellow circles were not explained, but a recent PlayStation Q&A Blog helped fill in the details. The yellow circles areJin’s (the protagonist ofGhost of Tsushima) Resolve. The circles are built up during battle and can then be used to either heal up Jin or pull off special moves. Nate Fox, the game director over at Sucker Punch, helped clear this up.
The ‘circles’ are Jin’s Resolve, which he uses to heal or to perform his most intense attacks. Players will have to make the tough tactical choice between healing or landing a crucial strike.
Sucker Punch is handling the game in interesting ways, for example,Ghost of Tsushimais an open-world game with no waypoints. The Resolve idea is an interesting one, as players will be able to fend off enemies and heal Jin or devastate more grunts with powerful attacks. Jin fights leagues of Mongols in the game, and the Resolve technique is just one way that he can use to attack his enemies. Sucker Punch has a fantastic pedigree with games likeInfamous, butGhost of Tsushimahas the opportunity to truly stand out.
Ghost of Tsushimais apparently a very challenging game, so using the Resolve feature will probably end up being very important. The developer isn’t creating a walk in the park style game, as swordplay will be as realistic as possible and there will be an emphasis on challenging combat.
With a couple of months to go until the launch ofGhost of Tsushima, there are a fewsamurai games to play in the interim. Sucker Punch looks to have developed an amazing game, however, and those who have waited patiently for the title will most likely be happy with the experience.
Ghost of Tsushimais set to release on July 17 for PS4.
