The PlayStation 5 has been out for over a year at this point, but it remains incredibly difficult for people to get their hands on Sony’s next-generation console. Various retailers have offered ways to make getting a PS5 easier, like with the Walmart+ subscription program or with theGameStopPowerUp Rewards Pro program, which gives members first dibs on new console stock. Anyone wanting to get a PS5 before 2021 is out is running out of time to do so, butGameStopis giving its PowerUp Rewards Pro members another opportunity soon.
GameStop had a restock of PS5 console bundleson December 28 that sold out instantly, but PowerUp Rewards Pro members will have another shot at getting one of the bundles on Thursday, December 30. Those signed up for the GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro program can check to see if their local GameStop is one of the participating in-store retailers and if so, they will have the opportunity to buy a console bundle tomorrow.

Whether or not they will succeed is another matter entirely, but having to show up to stores in-person to buy new consoles definitely makes it more likely that one is going to walk away with the console. It completely eliminates the threat of bots instantly buying up all the stock, though it’s possible that there will still bePS5 scalperspresent trying to buy consoles for the purpose of re-selling them online for ridiculous prices.
It’s unclear exactly what will be included in this PS5 console bundle from GameStop, but it will likely be similar to previous console bundles. For comparison’s sake, the latest GameStop PS5 console bundle retailed for about $700 and included thePS5 Digital Edition console, a DualSense controller, a charging station, a 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription, and $100 gift cards for GameStop and the PlayStation Store.
TheGameStop store locator pageincludes an image of both the regular PS5 as well as the Digital Edition console, so it seems safe to assume that both will be available for PowerUp Rewards Pro members to purchase. Previous GameStop PS5 console bundles for the Disc Edition console have included games likeSpider-Man: Miles MoralesandRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartas opposed to gift cards, but again, specifics for this particular restock are unavailable at the time of this writing.
ThePS5 console shortagesare expected to continue in 2022, though it should eventually get easier for one to walk into a store and walk out with a PS5. In the meantime, those who can’t wait will want to consider signing up for things like the GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro program to make getting a console a little easier.
