After joining an empty match, oneOverwatch 2player gets a hilarious look at what the game assumes is the “best play” of the game. Throughout theOverwatchfranchise, the Play of the Game was intended to show off an impressive feat or at least a moment that could have defined that particular match. However, the short clip hasn’t always panned out that way, prompting Blizzard to make a number of changes including issuing aPlay of the Game 2.0 in 2016 to better represent support characterswho may not rack up a huge number of kills.

While PotG certainly gets it right more than it gets wrong, there have been plenty of cases where it manages to capture some unintended moments including aPharah player blowing themselves up after a quadruple kill, or a Torbjorn player finally being featured only to have the moment ruined by getting disconnected by the server. It’s these unintentionally hilarious or embarrassing moments that typically stand out with the community including this latest clip.

The clip, originally posted to theOverwatchsubReddit, comes from a user named AgusGD, who was placed into a game that was largely empty and about to come to an end. While the origins of this match aren’t actually known, the Play of the Game certainly left AgusGD scratching their head as it decided that Zarya has the best moment of the match. After watching the clip, the character was simply running and jumping from the attacking spawn towards the objective point, not doing anything but dropping sprays and punching at the ground.

Comments on this thread ranged from laughter, to jokes stating how well those sprays were being placed or how well Zarya was jumping. Others theorized howOverwatch 2manages to weigh events for Play of the Game consideration. Many assumed sprays do get factored into the equation as this Zarya threw down a lot of them running from Point A to Point B, and many players also use them after pulling off an impressive move. Either way, this clip in particular was a bit strange.

Strange isn’t an uncommon term to use withOverwatch 2, as there are plenty of examples of odd glitches and gameplay moments that have been captured by fans. In fact, a recent discovery is linked to the new support hero Kiriko after a player caught a glimpse of an unintended bug happening when using her passive wall climb ability. On the training stage, a player noticed thatKiriko’s arms actually detached from her bodyduring the animation, something that makes sense from a first person technical perspective, but not something that should have been seen by the player.

Overwatch 2is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
